I've been searching for some answers to the OEM ski problem that the pre-tuner nytros have always had. I ran one year completely stock and dealt with the push and dart that everyone is familiar with. This year I needed to replace the stock carbides and starting looking at options. I plan on extending my sled with a star relocation and track extension to 136" next year so I didn't want to spend too much money as a different setup may be required next year. What I did was added some 8" single carbide runners (1.5" front, 5" center, 1.5" rear) and headed out on the trail. This thing gripped the corners like it never has but now suffered from more darting then ever. I went home measured toe at dead even and made an adjustment. I added 5/8" toe out and 1/4" aluminum shims to flipped stock rubbers and headed back to the trail. What a difference. The push is non-existent and the dart is extremely mild. This setup is very trail friendly. The steering feel isn't too heavy, I don't even notice a difference. The sled now goes where you point it and is much more stable while driving straight and if you do get caught in a previous sleds track you can easily steer out of it like never before. Next year I am going to try dually or slim jim carbides which i think will completely remove the dart. I know people are going to comment saying to just buy tuners or c&a's, but I didn't have the money to spend on a $300 set of skis as this cost me $45 for new runners and the aluminum for the shims i had laying around. Hopefully this will help some people setup their nytro to handle a little better without spending much money.
I drove 185 kms today on the setup and loved it so far. Here is a couple pics from my trip and a trail selfie lol.
