Anyone runnin oem Yammaha Mtn skis trail riding Nytro shorty

I don't run an FX but the older RS nytro for me curves were the best upgrade I made for my sled. It got rid of the push in the corners and the floatation is SO MUCH better. You can ride on top of the snow instead of plowing through it. I was looking for either stock mountain skis or curves. Found a great deal for the curves. Any aftermarket or mountain skis will be much better than the stock trail skis.

OEM mountain ski and snow-trackers work great for everthing...my .02

I ride my shorty off trail quite often and find the wider skis make it harder to throw the sled around and tip it from side to side. There is a point where too much floatation can be a negative unless you're just riding in a strait line.

You are correct but this is where the Yamaha MTX ski (not MT9) works so well. I had stock skis on my XTX and was unsure of what ski to got to as I needed more floatation. Going to an 8" ski like Slydog, C&A. Etc will make it harder to lean the sled off trail as the ski stance effectively gets wider. The MTX skis that everyone is referring to acts exactly like the stock ski but offers more floatation when it starts to sink in. I found my xtx actually leans easier with the wider MTX ski vs the narrow stocker. My buddy runs them on his shorty and they work well. Same as stock on trail but way more floatation off trail.

There is a reason for 2014 Yamaha ditched the MT9 and went back to the original MTX ski - Customer requests. These MTX skis are very similar in design as a SLP Powder Pro with many guys recommend.
