On CNBC Europe yesterday, they interviewed the CEO of Polaris. He said sales were good and that they would turn a profit blah blah blah. He also said they were focusing less on snowmobiles and PWCs and more on ATV's since climate changes do not impact ATV sales.
While on a recent trip to the Hayward WI area, I noticed that several of the snowmobile trails are now open to ATVs. I have also heard the trails along Minnesota's north shore are also open to ATVs.
Is this happening in other areas? I have a feeling Polaris is starting to put pressure on government's to allow ATVs on snowmobile trails. ATVs are O.K., but keep them off the snowmobile trails during our season.

The ATV groups are getting stronger here in Ontario as well. In Quebec, the ATV's ride right beside and sometimes share the sled trails. I am considering switching over to an ATV next year....easier to ride around my home and not as weather dependent. Also we have some farm property in the family which will make it easy to take my son out with me...it really sucks having to drive 5-7 hours North for snow..

ATVs are crap to ride in the cold - freeze to death going 20. They also get stuck way too easy. I definitely think that the sled trails should be open to ATVs in the off-season, but in the on-season, they dig nasty ruts making sled handling difficult.

That is exactly what we faced in Wisconsin LB. The ruts were horrible and they are never straight, so you are all over the trail. I have no problem with ATVs, but stay off the snowmobile trails while in season.

No fourwheeler will acheive the speeds on snow that a sled can...

Blasters are good for twisty trails, but not alot of poop on top. Now a Raptor or the new 450...
I've been thinking seriously lately of picking up a quad and not getting my panties in a bunch over snow fall. last week I was so depressed by lack of snow, I thought I'd just sell the damn thing! I grew up on dirt toys though, and enjoy the heck out of it.
While you can't go as fast as you can on a sled, you can get to many more places in the back country. That's what I like.

Quads are for people with no balance. Real riders only need 2 wheels!
I would give up my sled before I would give up my KTM. Ride it from Apr 1 - Mid Dec. $10 gas for a full day of riding. No $200 trail permit. The list goes on and on...

We have "NO ATV" signs on the trails. Whenever we see any ATV's on the trail we kindly remind them to get off the trail. They really do ruin the trails. I agree, let the ATV's ride on the trails in the summer and keep them for the snowmobiles in the winter.
