Well a new record was set. I got 300 miles outta that belt before it exploded. I performod proper break in and clutches were cool to the touch and also properly lined by the dealership. Glad I removed the imagenary wet foot fix. The small plate because the carnage that ocoured when it exploded would of most likely wrapped it around the driven. WTF is the problem with these yammie belts? Goin aftermarket this time. Anyone else got any good belt stories and aftermarket belt numbers I should try?

I was on the Yamaha demo ride in '09 and the RTX I was on shredded its belt with about 200 miles on the sled.

I recently picked up a used RTX with about 500 miles on it and found belt fibers all over the place under the panels. Around a couple hundred miles so far and no issues yet.

Just put on new belt yesterday for a 200 Plus mile ride. This included some long wot running with very little break in, all I did was resetting deflection when I installed new belt. No issues. This is 3rd belt on sled in well over 9000 km. First belt went early last winter with top cogs tearing off, but was still useable. Second was fine just had some severe glazing that was effecting performance.
I don't know what to say but these were all Yamaha belts. :o|

I blew my belt today with only 250 miles on it.. This belt got no break in at all. How are you guys breaking in your belts? And what seems to work best?

Friday I was cranking the Nytro XTX up down the railroad bed and the dream meter was just hitting 92mph and all of a sudden I felt a vibration so I got out of it coasted to a stop and looked down by my LH foot and there laid a piece of the top cogs of the belt. So I opened up the side panel and sure enough about a foot of the top of the belt came off. I only had about 300 miles on that belt but its the belt I used this fall when I grass dragged the sled so it was abused alot.

I'm sure I will jinx myself by saying this, but replaced my belt at the beginning of this season, just because I thought I should and it had over 2000 boosted miles on it and showed no major wear. Yes it was a Yammi belt, and replaced it with one as well.

mine went this weekend, not even a year old and 1367 miles on the odometer, is there a better belt out there, also, my wet foot guard was mangled, that is coming off!

Blew one this weekend also.

Running about 90 on a road to Wolfs Inn in the UP. Felt a vibration like the track was loose. Pulled in the gas station and I looked at my left foot. Looked like I blew up a cat. Fuz everywhere. Checked the belt. The top of the belt was totally gone. Cords were fine just the top delaminated. Approx 1100 miles on the belt.

I wonder if Yamaha made a bad batch of belts.

A buddy of mile blew one on his 2011 Nytro this weeken also. Approx 2000 miles on his belt.

I am on the same belt that my phazer came with in 09. just over 3000km's ago. I take it out of the sled when i know i wont use it for a while ans hang it on a nail. this way it goes back to a round shape.

belts

I have blown like 2 belts in 30 years--I always take it easy for the for the first 15-20 miles after that I give her the onion!!!!Have always used Yamaha belts and have about 1400 on this one and every fall i just replace it no matter what... just good insurance- and have had great luck with the OEM belt.. Im sure it has alot to do with what type of conditions u ride in also... So everyones situation is gonna be differant, and what type of riding u do...

1400 miles on my belt and its still going great,I even smoked the belt when I 1st got the sled. road about 10ft with the brake on! I am not sure how you boys are blowing up your belts,Are you breaking them in and warming them up correctly? You would be shocked about how many people don't understand that you have to break a belt in and warm a belt up

My last belt (wich lasted only 250 miles) got no break in at all, it was changed in the mountains and used for turbo testing.. So it was on / off the throttle until it blew. I'm gonna try to break in this one properly and we'll see how much of a difference it makes.

It's possible i have to re-gear to make belts last longer, since it did the same thing last season without the turbo.
Both times was in serious amounts of snow..

I broke my belt in easy for 10-15 miles then I gave it hell. Warm up I don't hit a trail for 3 miles so I stay at a steady 20-30 MPH and that warms it up nice. proof is right there 1400 miles and still counting (Knock on wood)
