Ohlins Monoshock YES Warranty

Send the bill to yamaha but call port first to see if they will do a claim for you on this repair this should been cover under warranty no questions ask that dealer you are dealing with is just to lazy to file the claim

Thank you for your replies. Picked up my 07 Apex from Minocqua Yamaha, and paid my bill which included some slides, track clips, but the rear shock was line item listed on the bill as ---- Shock- $170.00 so nothing covered under my YES warranty which expires in 2014.

Seems to ride nice, but I dont expect it to last based on how the plug is mounted from them. Apparently they neglected to read Yamaha's Technical Service Bulletin on how to route and secure the plug which can be damaged when the sled bottoms out.

From looking at the TSB it appears the plug should be mounted on the inside of the suspension arm vertically on the backside, just behind the Ohlins remote canister. I am no expert but find it odd they would mount the plug on the outside of the limiter strap.

What do you think?

A friend has the same shock, etc.
Kept tearing out the wire, seemed like no matter what he did.

There is a service bulletin specifically about how to route the cable. (Added in EDIT)
Ended up ty-wrapping it MAJORLY just like in the service bulletin, THAT did the trick!
(But used more ty-wraps!)

Don't be afraid to use plenty of ty-wraps.
Make sure they are good ones that are tough (not brittle) at low temps.
Put them in the freezer for an hour, then try to break them by hand, if they can handle the temps, you won't be able to hurt them.

Hope this helps!

Rock :-o

I delt with that gentemen at that same dealership this past week he has his own opinions on stuff and in my opinion is wrong about most of it. nice that he is there in a pinch but very arogant. you should call yamaha your self and report your issue to them i had a problem with my local dealer and call yamaha they had me take it to a diffrent dealer in green bay great dealer by the way (team motor sports green bay) sorry Kevin you are awsome too just not as close, but yamaha in turn charged back my local dealer for all the repairs and fixed my sled right thru better dealer at no charge to me.and btw i had the yamaheater controller on my sled at the time and was no prob with waranty

Just to let you know yamaha paid for the yamaha heater on my sled because I could not ride it. So they paid to have it installed too.

Guys, I have heard NOTHING but negative things about the dealer, and the argumentative, non-customer oriented nature of his/their way of dealing with complaints, in Minocqua, WI.
Conversely, Port Yamaha is the best to deal with, and most knowledgeable.
They do HUGE volume, so when they talk to Yamaha, I guarantee, they listen.
I've avoided the dealer referenced in sentence one, and even though it's a major logistical hassle for a guy that rides out of Eagle River, I buy my Yamaha's and accessories from Port Yamaha.
And so far, Trackside in Eagle River has not let me down for service.

Repair lasted 100 miles on my trip. Now I can't bring the shock icon up on the dash display even though the wiring appears secure under the skid.

Any ideas?

My wire is routed like shown in the TSB and I have never had any problems. 7500 miles with plenty of really rough trails and no issues. Like Rock said I added some more tie wraps for good measure.

Since you paid the dealer for the shock repair you could go back and make him fix it right but it sounds like the guy is incapable of that. I would absolutely contact Yamaha and explain the situation. They should make it right for you and hopefully chastise the dealer.

Thank you,
Funny thing is I added 10 more zip ties to the arm after I picked up the sled so that was not the issue. The wire is still there, as well as the clip so it must have pulled from the top of the Ohlins canister or the wires broke after the clip.

I plan on taking it to another dealer this week as I refuse to support Minocqua Yamaha, and will call corporate Yamaha and explain what transpired. I wont go into details but comments like "well you need to ride on snow you know" and "dont always believe what you read on the internet" as well as numerous other snide remarks didnt sit well with me from the get go.

I would strongly encourage anyone who is thinking about going to Minocqua Yamaha for service to take your business elsewhere. Not a pleasant experience whatsoever and I couldn't imagine speaking to one of my customers in my line of work or we would be out of business.

There is a fuse for the EC shock too. Never heard of that being the issue but it could be.

Yes, it could be a blown fuse but there would be a reason for the blown fuse that also would need to be addressed.

Thank you,

As of last Dec. 2016 Minocqua Yamaha has new owners.
