Hello guys , just looking for some answers about this ohlins shock I just installed on my 2004 yamaha rx1 that I extended to a 144 a couple years ago . Here is the question , I installed an ohlins rear shock with the reservoir and the rebound clicker and now the back of my sled seems to sit high for some reason . Does tightening the spring bring the rear of the sled down some . All I did was install all new bushings and got the front rear shock recharged and installed this used ohlins I got of a member here . How can I lower the rear suspension down a bit . Thanks for any help

If you want to lower the rear of your sled, you need to loosen the spring on that shock. Make shure that you can rotate the spring on the front skid shock so you can turn it by hand for best ride. You want the rear set so that the transfer rods are at 40/60 or 50/50 on the gap when you sit on the sled.

Thanks maim, but the shock is already loosened up .what else do you recommend . I also have the front shock loose to and the limiter straps not very tight either . I took sled for a ride and what I huge difference in ride compared to before . Way smoother ride . Feels like a new suspension was installed .makes the proaction a lot nicer ride that's forsure . Now I will try to find a front rear shock to have both ohlins in the rear skid . Thanks for any more suggestions

Well maybe the shock was sacked out before the rebuild. Have seen it happen before. I do have a front skid Olin's here but it has been reserved for my dad's venture once his fails. The shock rebuilder here in ontario is going to hate me as I have a crate of shocks for him to do.

I had the front shock on the rear skid redone and it only needed the oil changed out of it . It was in really good shape from what the shock rebuilder said . The rear ohlins shock I bought used and didn't do anything to it as I was told it was already redone . I don't think it's the shocks as the sled rides 100% better then before . It just sits alittle higher now . I just want to figure a way to lower the rear . The sleds rides nice and doesn't bottom out . I will double check the spring again to see. So you say set it loose to lower the bAck down .

Yes you set it so the transfer rods are at 50/50 with you sitting on the sled. If they are at that already, I would leave it alone and ride it. When it builds up with snow, it will sit lower. My old war used to do this all the time.

Yeah the sled is night and day difference now. It rides so much better it feels like a new sled lol . Just don't like it sitting high like that. But oh well the ride is nice . Thanks for the help . I'll check the spring again tommorrow .
