I would like input from anyone with a OhlinsEC shock regarding the feed wire to the shock. I am thinking of upgrading my shock to the Ohlins and I’m wondering if the problems out weigh the benefits. Could you please tell me if you have had one wire break, more then one wire break, if you haven't had any issues at all and if you have a 06 or 07 shock.

My wire broke twice and the shock blew twice..

Im sending my NEW shock to pioneerperformanc for a revalve!

One thing you need to take into account with this tread, is that the more miles you ride the more often you are going to get a broken shock wire or blown shock..

My wire broke twice. If I have to ride in powder for more than two days it will brake. If you thaw it out every day it will never brake. I love the revalve.

I had herd that Ohlin's made changes to the shock wire for the 07's and from the results so far it appears that it is much more durable then the 06's. This is just the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks guys.

I broke three 06 wires and blew one 06 shock,This year the dealer put on the 07 shock(updated) and this year I broke two wires and blew one shock, oops forgot that I just broke another wire and its at the dealer now. My opinion is please stay away from the EC. If mine wasn't under warranty getting fixed for free every time,I would put a Apex Er standard shock in it,I ride in a lot of powder!

So far for me, nothing broken. Of course I have only about 1000 miles or so on my 07.
I have my Expert on stand by, though. lol

My wire keeps breaking because the suspension holds so much darn ice... (and seeing how i do a quite a bit of off trailing) it gets all iced up and works the wire loose from the zip tie and the wire gets pinched and breaks..

Poll deleted past experiences have found this type of poll usually ends up with a lot of false responses which create a lot of negativity. If you truly have issues with this cable from what I have been told Yamaha is taking care of it. Take it to your dealer and if they are no help contact Yamaha customer service.

I broke the wire once, but it was my fault when I was taking the shock out for a revalve. I soldered it back together and used shrink tubing on it and have not had a problem in 1500 mi, the issue with the shocks blowing is what Ohlins calls an X seal, apparently the original ones did not hold up in very cold temps. I would send the shock to Ohlins directly, it cost me $65 for the revalve, they didnt charge me for the seal and this was 1500mi ago I have had no issues at all. The guy to talk to at Ohlins is Brad his # is 828-692-4525 xt 310
