I'm in the middle of an oil change (first timer). I have the tank drained, and the filter removed/replaced. After reading the oil change maintenance in the owners manual i cant seem to figure out which is the oil drain plug for the crankcase. is it right next to the filter? also, the manual says to add 3.2 quarts for a full oil change, yet it only says to pour oil into the tank. Do i need to add oil to the engine as well (if there is oil to be drained from the crankase?
my 2 questions. where and how much oil to add? Where the $@#! is the drain plug/plugs?
It's ok if you all call me a dummy lol

On my Apex I just add 2 quarts to tank, run a short time and then add another quart to tank. Let set for 5 minutes and check level. Dont be afraid to keep it a little low, less blow buy into air box.

The drain plug is relatively small...it's a 5mm hex, located just under the filter. As mentioned there's a little triangle stamped in the case on the motor next to the hex bolt you need to take out. If you've never changed the oil in one of these before you may be looking for something more like a car/truck drain plug? Got me for split second when I crawled under mine too.

On XTX there is a small triangle by the one that is the drai

on the xtx there is a small triangle next to the one that is the drain. They have 3 bolts right next to each other and they all look alike!

Add all the oil in the tank. It almost takes 3.75 quarts if you drain everything. Add a little over 3 quarts and start it. Then check level and add to mark, when you check oil don't thread the stick in just push it in as far as it will slide in and check level. For the drain plug its a hex bolt with a metal washer I believe.
