I am thinking about getting an Apex ltx this summer. I am wondering, does the 09-2010 year (have the plastic oil drain access panel)? As of right now, I have an 08 vector ltx gt, and it has the plastic one, where as my brother has an 09 Yamaha vector ltx gt, his has the 4 by 4 aluminum access panel for the oil drain/ filter. I have tried to find out if the 2008-2010 apex'x have the plastic oil drain / filter plate. Thanks for any info you guys have on this.

Thanks!! I was wondering if some guys with 09-10 apex's could say what they have on theres. I have tried to look it up on google but could not find any thing. Now when the went from the 6 by 4" plastic plate, did they replace it with the aluminum 6 by 4" inch aluminum plate? I know on my brothers it is wicked tight for the oil access plate. It is a 4 by 4" aluminum plate on his.yes plastic i think changed in 09 or 10?.

Why I started this post, is I had to replace the starter on my vector. And the plastic plate had a bigger opening, which made replacing the starter more easy. Than if I had the small aluminum plate. Just trying to do my research on apex's before I buy one. Like, how hard is to replace a starter on an apex? Is it easier than on the 08 vector? Thanks for the input guys.
The starter is under the airbox. Very easy to replace if one needed to.

Thanks. Sounds a lot easier to replace than on my vector. I know the apex's are known for burning up the exhaust doughnuts pretty quickly. Any thing else to know about the apex's? I know about the oil light bushings, bulkhead, and how you need the saver kit for that. I am looking at getting an 08 apex ltx gt, or 09 apex ltx gt. One of those years. ThanksThe starter is under the airbox. Very easy to replace if one needed to.
The chassis is the same as the 08 Vector so they both have the same issues. The only thing you don't need to worry about is the clutch rattle that the 3 banger has.
I have a post somewhere in this Apex forum of what you need to look for or prepare to repair/replace.

Yup, I know all about the vector problems. And how if you get and Apex you want to install the bulk head saver kit pretty quickly to it. It would be good if you could attach the link so I could check it out. If not, no big deal as I am doing research on them anyway. I do like how the Apex motors sound vs the vector motors!! That and the starter is easy to replace if it where to go.The chassis is the same as the 08 Vector so they both have the same issues. The only thing you don't need to worry about is the clutch rattle that the 3 banger has.

I would even install the Bulkhead saver on the Delta II Vectors. Same chassis same issue.
I will see if I can dig up that thread. It was not that long ago.

Yep puzzled as to why one would come to the conclusion that an Apex only needs a bulkhead saver. A bulkhead saver is insurance for all DeltaBox sleds. Same as a skid plate!

Yup, I know that. See, this is what I would do, buy the Apex ltx gt this summer. Keep my vector as a back up sled, that is about it. So when I buy the apex, I have all the upgrades to do to it. Like Bulk head saver kit, Oil light front end bushings. Copper exhaust doughnuts. Ride light, hand guards, Apex mountain riser( adds 1.5-2" in height, and looks stock) Skid plate which I already have for my vector. So I think it is pointless to get the bulk head saver kit for my vector, as it will be a backup sled only. I would only be using it for on trail riding when my apex would break down, such as bearings, starter and who knows what else could go wrong.I would even install the Bulkhead saver on the Delta II Vectors. Same chassis same issue.

I was going to put the bulk head saver kit on my vector this summer. But to me it is pointless to do so right now, my vector is going to be just a back up sled when ( if I get an apex this summer) is down. Now if I buy an apex this summer, I will be putting the bulkhead saver kit on right off the bat. I would have to upgrade the apex a lot, to make it worth while for me to ride it this coming winter. Plus I have to buy the apex, for me money does not grow on trees. If I was going to keep using the vector a lot, I would be getting the saver kit, and down the road like a year or two, I will prob buy the saver kit for the vector. But right now, I do not see how I need it, when I will not be using it in the coming years.Yep puzzled as to why one would come to the conclusion that an Apex only needs a bulkhead saver.
