Mcxpress rear mount turbo 2003rx1 10 pounds boost. This is my problem, sled was smoking and oil leaking out of the intercooler. Pulled the charge hose of the turbo and found oil in the turbo and hose, though it was the seal in the turbo, replaced the turbo still smoking. Pulled the charge hose again oil in the turbo and charge hose. I checked the return hose it was clear. Can someone please give me some direction on what to do next or what could be causing the problem. Shed is running good lots of power lots of smoke :o|

make sure your return line isnt pinched somewhere that is one of the main causes for a smoking turbo oil cant return fast enough so it builds pressure in the turbo & leaks by the seal :o| :o|

I checked the return it was good, put on a new turbo and still it smokes bad. Oil is still leaking through the turbo, what could be another cause for this? Also if oil is leaking through the turbo will the seal have to be replaced?

Have you checked the oil pump? Open the cover to the pump and see if the pump wheel can be turned. If that´s possible then probably the pin that connects the pump axle with the crankshaft is broken.

Small problem but lot´s of smoke...

Thanks for the info, the small pin was broken. Got a friend to help me tonight hopefully we can get it back together.

Some info for u.

Too much line volum wil cause the turbo seals to leak. What size feel line u using. On all the turbo setups that leak number one prob was guys were pumping too much oil in there turbos

Nice good info!!!

MCXpress rear mount turbos will only smoke if the return pump stops working or seal breaks. Oil feed is not anywhere near the capasity of the return pump. Bender guys have had problems with too much oil going to the turbo caused by too large oil feed. They do not have a return pump so they have to restrict the feed using a jet in the line, that works well for them.

That is a misleading statement. Bender uses a "scavenge pump" that mounts in the front of the sled to pull the oil from the turbo back to the reservoir. It is driven by a dc motor. If this pump or dc motor goes down your blowing oil, by the turbo seal, big time also.

Sorry for the misleading statement on the Bender system not having a return pump, my memory are leaking as well.

woodsrider - thanks for clearing that up :-)
