hi guys I took my newly acquired s/c apex for a rip. I after a few miles I thought it was the track just spin inning but after the belt blew inew something wasn't rite. It was my first ride of year so my brain wasn't working yet. Somewhere on the clutch side it's leaking oil but I can't tell where it came from. I'm pretty sure oil got on belt. Any help would be appreciated.

Belcher: Check on the side of your engine head, behind the clutches where the valve cover gasket is. There is a larger semi-circular lobe of that gasket that can push out of position and spew oil on your clutches when running. This happened to a bud with a SC Apex last winter, and it was because his crankcase ventilation tube was frozen/blocked and enough crankcase pressure built up to dis-lodge this gasket, didn't blow a belt, but made a mess and cut into our beer time. That gasket lobe can easily be put back into position, no need to remove valve cover.
Typically on the SC kits, since the stock air box is removed which contains the crankcase vent, the SC kit comes with a new length of crankcase vent hose that gets routed from the motor up to the engine bay and basically sits there. There is some sort of plastic porous insert/plug in the end of that hose that allows it to breathe yet keep crap out. In my buds case there was moisture build up in that plug and it froze overnight, causing excessive crankcase pressure. To prevent this from happening again, we cut a 1-2"slit with an exacto knife lengthwise on one side of that hose near the end by the plug, in case the plug ever froze up again, the slit in the hose would simply open up and allow pressure to vent. I believe on the newer model sleds, the crankcase vent tube inside the stock airbox also has a small slit in it for much the same reason I'm thinking.
Cheers.
