They drained the cylinder and replaced the starter, and all was good. Untill the customer went out for his first ride, as a result of the hydrolock one of the rods was bent, and eventually snapped and made a big hole in the engineblock. He got a new engine on warranty.
Do not try to start the sled untill you are sure its not hydrolocked!
I certainly hope that you dont have this kind of damage!
I am going through this as we speak....due to a no starting issue ( without involving a roll over or being on its side ) I puked everything to do with my starter and compressed a rod.

Where did the fluid come from to cause the hydrolock condition in your case?

Me too EsonPZ. If I do I will not be a happy camper. I did try to start it a couple times so I am crossing my fingers that I did not bend a rod.

Re: Oil leakage after sled being on it's left side for 4 min
kamakazie said:Hey everyone.
Last night I was playing in the ditch a little and I we ended up putting my XTX on it's left side for about 4 mins before my buddy could help me right the beast. Heavy to push it back over myself and I weigh 225 lbs and work out regularly!! Anyway to make a long story short oil and gas were coming out the left side vent on the cowl. After we righted the sled I checked the oil and it was low so I added a quart. The oil light went off but I could not start the sled. I waited another 20 mins and tried again but not go. It would not turn over. Any ideas? I have her sitting on my trailer and plan on looking at it next Saturday when I have some time. I know I will need to clean the airbox and probably change the oil. Is there anything else I should be checking. Could there be an possible engine damage? Anyone else have this happen?
Happy riding!!!!!
This happened to us this weekend, except the sled was on it's right side and it did start right up. Since it was only on it's side for about 30 seconds we didn't notice any oil, just put it back upright and drove on. The next day when we were getting gas the oil light was on and it took about a litre...buddy almost had a heart attack!!!

What if we just reroute the breather hose outside the airbox.

Update guys. I dragged the sled back to a dealer in NY state after I removed the plugs and turned it over to get the oil out of the cylinders. I also cleaned the airbox. The sled would not fire and was making a god awful sound. Turns out the starter was shot how I do not know? They also tore down the engine and found the valves would not seat correctly. They claim the rods are ok. The Yamaha tech who visited the dealer claims they have not seen this before?? I call BS on that one. Good thing I have the YES warranty. The crappy part is I will probably not have my sled to ride this weekend.
I would say to all that if you put your sled on it's left side for any length of time do not even attempt to start it when you right it.

Wow, I had my sled on its left side for at least half an hour while I was working on it, and I had some oil run out of the air box afterward but nothing serious.
