anyone had any issues with ulmers oil filter relocation kit ?
any issues with it affecting warranty ?
looks like a pretty good set-up, and allow alot cleaner/easier oil changes

As I have said before, if it fails causing engine damage good luck getting Yamaha to cover the damage under warranty.

For me it is just not worth the expense and risk to make a one hour once a year job a little easier.

You know, I thought doing an oil & filter change on these sleds was the one thing I was really going to hate, but I just did my dads (new to him) RX-1 over the weekend and it was a piece of cake. I'd rather spend an hour out in the garage working on the sled anyways than doing honey-do's in the house :hide:

And fighting for warranty work if something happens to the motor even if its not related to the kit is just not worth it to me.

The only thing stopping me installing 1 is WARRANTY, the moment you MODIFY your sled with a non OEM accessory their goes your warranty!!!

If you want 1 "DONBARB" has 1 for $85.00 CDN

dudes..I have one...of course easy for me to sat cause my warranty is over...but if it fails..I'd just unbolt it and put it back to stock before Id take it in and they'd never know..

Yup, my thought too...what they don't know won't hurt me....

i thought the same, if i have an issue, i take it out first.
i do some high miles & don't always have the time and place to wrip it down in the middle of winter. felt this would help speed things up.
thanks for the feed back.

I guess that if you put enough miles on that you have to change the oil mid season without a heated garage then the kit makes sense.

For me the oil change is just part of my seasonal tear down and inspection routine where I have the sled torn apart anyway so the kit is an unwanted expense and liability.

actually a side benefit is it holds a bit more oil and a larger filter...also it is cooled by the incoming air..

How many miles are you riding each year? The manual says to replace the filter every 12,000.

I have 4 of these left and once they are gone they are gone. Not selling enough anymore to justify keeping the parts on the shelf, just some information for everyone!

to me they are worth it...nothing better than dropping the nose plastic and draining the oil easy..

Oh great, So what do those of us do that have the kit if we need a fitting or hose etc.? This is an AWESOME kit and a lot of guys probably don't know about them that's why they aren't selling. You guys who are talking probably don't have the kit or have never even seen one. Ths is a quality piece. You shouldn't give input on something your not PERSONALLY experienced using! One hour...sure if you've done it a bunch in a year but realistically it's at least 90 minutes! With this kit it takes 5 minutes to change the oil....not to mention it's a cooler and a sandwich heater! I hate to see you stop selling them Allen, to many guys worrying about something they have no experience with! If they had used one they would know this is not a concern! :o|

I have some fittings in stock yet and can still order them if needed for a repair, etc. I just won't be stocking any of the aluminum bases any longer once these last 4 are gone.

I have one and it is built fantastic, I do not see how it can fail and for those of us who are not as inclined to dig deep in to the sled this makes oil changes simple.

I love it.
