Nytro 08 with 3000 miles is leaking oil from the oil reservoir bottom of unit and not from the screws or from the o ring. Is there a re-call on these?? If I am out of warranty how do I fix it??

Thank you Nikolai for the fast reply and great write up will pull and get it Brazed and then finish up with J B..

Hi Nikolai or others:
Can the Oil reservoir also be Tig welded? My tank came out today and does have this problem.

The guy who brazed mine said no to TIG welding it as it's too thin. Others have I guess, but I'll take a 30 year aircraft mechanics opinion first. Just my .02.

My tank is fixed and looks real nice. I had it welded and have the first of three coats of J & B Weld in place. Two welders refused to do the job and I was happy they passed on it. Third guy could do it and has done thin welds in the past. I will put it under my tree tonight $$. Thanks to the folks who pointed me in the right direction. PS lots of fresh snow coming down in our mountains. I hear that some of the Totallyamaha web folks are making a trip out to my area this year for a ride with some main Yamaha rep's, I hope to join the ride.

see your in co.

who did the welding.

i simply jb welded mine (no prewelding).

it looked good still (and hasnt leaked) so far this season.

but good to have options.. i never expect things to work out for the best.. so i like solutions or options before things fail. :P

Joes Auto in Broomfield sent it over to a fab shop across the street from his business. Cost #2 is now in place. PS I am also putting WB weld on the oil drain flange.

I don't want any more oil problems. Glad to hear from a fellow Co Nytro rider.

Just wondering, are they leaking just sitting there, or is it when the engine is running, when your riding?

It will seep, leak, drip just sitting there. At first it leaks a very small amount when the crack just starts. As you ride more the crack gets larger and more oil leaks out. As one rider noted he did not address this and the boss pulled completely off from the tank. This will end up giving Yamaha some very bad press because EVERY tank needs attention, I see no other option. If you have low miles than make this a summer project unless you like pulling the tank off outside when it is 15 degrees. Like I said previously mine will be under the tree for X-mass.

how can the tank be to thin ? i weld pop cans together with my high frequency tig .

in the hands of the right welder, it is fine, but you have to be careful to not make the problem bigger than it is...

I have replaced mine (warranty) and had the other one welded with a tig...but that guy is an incredible welder...

If the welder is good and has the right machine they can be welded and be just fine. I've welded a few and 1 for myself and all are doing fine to my knowledge.
