Does the 2016 SR Viper have a dipstick to check engine oil level.

Thanks

I have a 2017 Viper new to me and would like to know where the dipstick is. So you have to remove the hood?
No .you dont have to remove the hood.left side panel and black panel that covers gas tank

Exhaust side correct?
Yes.right side when sitting on the sled.when checking oil warm the sled up then wait 30 seconds and screw the dipstick all the way in to get a correct reading.as long as you are between the upper and lower lines you are good to go

Thanks for the info! I love this site. Such a great resource!

Dealer told me that you do not thread dipstick in just insert and remove to check

It has always been controversial as to how to measure it. I have mine halfway between the marks without screwing the dipstick in. Figure I'm safe either way. Manual isn't clear on which is correct.

this is what I have done for the last 24000km and it has treated me good.

• Correct procedure for reading oil level.
• Level is always read by screwing the cap all the way in, then removed.
• Start with a cool vehicle on flat / level ground.
• Start vehicle and warm up for a few minutes (manual says till fan comes on). Typically once water has reached 150+deg F it is warm and variances from temp are gone.
• Shut motor off.
• Wait at least 30 sec, but no more than 90 sec to read oil level.

• Huge oil level reading variations have been observed. They are TIME & TEMPERATURE dependent.
• Highest level observed on warm motor with-in 60sec of shut-down.
• Level drops 60cc within 1 minute of above condition (would cause over-fill if customer used this reading).
• Lowest level observed on cold motor after only 30sec of run time (would cause 235cc over-fill).
• Oil level on cold motor and no run time is a little low (would cause 150cc over-fill)
• Reading oil level without screwing dip stick all the way in causes about 175cc over-fill in addition to above conditions.
