My 03 cover ripped due to ice, dealer is giving me a new one, when it goes back on it will have 2" of extra foam. I think half of the poor studder bump performance is the hard seat.
I know after a couple of hundred miles it is sure hard on my seat
.
Another tip: The upolstery shop I talked with shapes the foam with an electric kitchen knife, then to make it look smooth like factory he puts down a layer of soft cotton backing then the cover. I cant wait!!!

You sure about the cotton backing? Sounds like it would really soak up the water.
Let us know how it comes out.

Here is another option for a more comfortable seat:
The "Butt Buffer" they are made for motorcycles and I have one! It is not a gel and will not freeze! It is much better than a gel pad or seat which will bottom out, where this won't!
I have an extra large and I will try it on the snowmobile soon, I know it works well on the motorcycle. And you might be able to have this put in under your seat and it's only 3/4" thick. From reading there web site you can send them your seat and they will put it under your present seat cover.

It may not be cotton but it is a white fabric, very soft 1/4" thick. Upulstorer says it is made for this purpose. The stuff reminds me of a polor fleece. The same guy may a seat for my kids ET250 5 years ago looks factory.
24X------ Welter added foam to his stock 04 cover and a few have added to the 03 seat. I am using a new cover so it will have a little move vinal in the margins to allow for more foam, also new cover has no old staple holes so I can staple it looser. Norms auto tops in Sabatus does good work. He is doing mine as soon as I get the new cover. I also plan to narrow the top of the seat 2"

Yes... There is lots of room.. Could probobly go 3 inches although it would be a flat top then!
Looked on line at butt buffer, Not an inexpensive way to go

My seat is being done this week. I will post the total cost and results next week. My dealer gave me an 05 seat to use while mine at the upolster. The 05 seat is off his drag sled. Keith Wood is a great dealer and he deserves your business.

Have you ridden your sled with the 05 seat yet to compare?

I have only ridden the 05 seat on the lake due to lack of snow. It is softer than 03 and a good 2" higher, but it is not a "soft" seat like an Exciter IIsx. I do prefer to 05 seat to the 03 and I feel the difference will be greater on a rough trail.
