I have 7300 miles and mine is still pulling strong. Why change it if it's not slipping and still good top end?

I go for the squeeling test. They start squeeling a bit when they get a worn down spot or are getting thin. When that happens, I change it. My last one went a year and a half.

i always changed mine around 1500 miles but they never appear that worn. they are a very hard belt that wears like iron, so i am going with 3000 mile changes now.

They can look good after 1000s of miles but if you measure them I bet they have to be narrow. A narrow belt will cause low end bog unless you adjust your secondary.

i was riding with a guy that had 10000km on his belt (rx1) and it was 3 seasons on it before it came apart.
crewcheif's dad got 10000km'ish on the bely on his vector before it came apart.
i usually run mine untill they get a couple of flat spots or the outer band peels off. usually 1-2 seasons without having to play tow truck for another sled.

i have measured them and there is little difference between 1k miles or 3k.if you don't smoke them when loading or forget the e-brakes on, they will run a long time under "normal" conditions.

I had 1600 miles on the original when it let go after about 5 miles of steady WOT... Then today I was having trouble clutching my sled so I threw on a new belt (old one had about 1400 miles on it) and I got my rpms where I wanted them and it ran great, had to adjust the secondary for the new belt but its much better now..
i have an 06 with the original belt 10.500 miles

Great thread ! Why do you wash the belt ? My original belt on my 06 Attack has 2800 miles on it and it is still running strong ? Now I might just change it before my next trip to the North Woods next week. What is the right break in procedure for a new belt ?

I throw mine in the dishwasher when new before I install the belt.
Then I remove the belt from each sled and re-wash it in the dishwasher once a year when I clean my clutches.
I think we use Cascade dishwasher soap if anyone is interested, but I don't think it matters.
No jet dry required for the belts, unlike the china.....
