I have an 06 Rage with 8500 miles on it, 4 seasons.
it runs fine but all this posting about timing chains and donuts in the exhaust is getting to me. I hate working on stuff, hence the reason i drive a Yamaha.

I have been wanting to step up a notch and am seriously considering a new 09 Apex LTX GT
Only the GT because I want Blue, not red.

So what kind of warnings do you have for me on this sled.

I'm over 50 and put hard miles on but I'm not quite crazy like some of the guys I ride with.
My Rage hasn't been studded because i never really thought I needed it with a 136. I know it would help on icy roads and will likely stud the Apex.

So, what have you all got to say.

Go for the apex. You'll love it.

I think they updated the mono skid in 2010 right?? If the 09 has the updated mono skid then definately go for it....

I just picked up the exact sled you speak of and I love it! I came from a 07 RTX that I put 8,350 miles on and I like the LTX GT much better! I really like the Ohlin EC Shock with the control on the handlebar, it definitely makes a difference! I installed a Camoplast Ice ripper XT Track on it immediately, I highly recommend this track!

Not sure what your sled is worth but now would be the best time to sell it?

I just put 620 miles on it last weekend in the Eastern U.P., perfect conditions for the Moto Man break in procedure!

Either sled you will need to replace donuts when it is time & not a big deal but time to leave Rage behind. Biggest step up is Apex 4s injected engine over carbs. Yes you will stud Apex GT LTX to get advantage of 4s 150hp hookup. 120 Timing chains may be more hype than worry as a lot of stuff on here. Buy Apex GT LTX any year & don't look back just do it. Apex nice rider forward step up from old sit in Rage.
