Drive Shaft

Have an 06 Apex GT with just over 8500 miles on it. I have decided to replace the Drive Shaft and have a question.

Can I reuse the drive sprockets? Or is it better just to order new ones?

Thanks,

-Moose
I see Yamaha in 2006 was using a 30 mm Shaft close to 1 1/16" now they use 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" after 2009 .. They now use an external too drive on the our side and internal drives in the middle .. My 21014 Skidoo uses External drives only at the track windows ..

If you use the Wahl drives they are internal and external and only at the track windows.. It looks like you could put the larger OD Hex shaft in an '06 sled if you change the sprockets at the same time.. The bearings seem to be the same .. Problem is I have been a mechanic all my life but never worked on sleds much ..

Some one said Ulmur racing sells a heavy duty shaft with External Wahl drivers already pressed on .. I looked on their web site and could not find them .. I am waiting on answers from some vendors

My guess is the shafts are breaking because the track is too tight ..

Here is an article on Attak Apex upgrades including a fully clipped track with external drivers..
