Just put a deposit down on a MTX (blue w/reverse) today. Buying from ND, and saving aournd $3,000! I guess that is worth the 7 hour trip to pick it up.

Can't wait, picking it up around mid-october.

The dealer at first did not know if they needed to be re-geared/clutch for this elevation, do they?

:yam:

I just did the same on Friday. I was told by the dealer clutching would need to be changed. Gearing would be okay, depending on how fast you want to go. I ride Revy quite a bit so I'm sticking with the stock gearing for now.

Just picked up my blue with reverse about 2 hours ago. It sure is easy on the eyes :)

My first 4 stroke and I'm already in love. If this thing goes as good as it looks, I'll have permagrin all season.

It is through the R.I.V program (registered imported vehicle) The dealer will fax all the paper work to the border crossing ahead of time before I get there. You don't pay any U.S. tax and you pay a $200 RIV fee at the border as well as the GST. You pay the PST when you register it in your province. Included in the RIV fee you have to ge a safety inspection done at Canadian Tire within 45 days. Basically they check the headlights! That's it pretty simple. It is nice that the dealer does all the paperwork. It is really easy to buy especially a brand new vehicle. The border main concern is that it is not stolen.

Haven't worked out all the fine details yet but it will be very close to U.S. retail MSRP, which is 3,100 less than canadian retail and CND dealers are not selling much less than that a couple hundred bucks at the most from what I can see.

Has anyone been picking up the MTX for much less than the retail of 10,599/ (blue w/reverse)??

With the canadian dollar being 1.02 i will be saving a couple hundren more bucks. Every cent it goes up you save a hundren buck on 10,000.

Just got the U.S. draft for my MTX that I am picking up tommorow in N.D.

The purchase price was $10,599 U.S. = $9,800 CAN. = :jump: $3,900 SAVED off Purchasing in Canada!!
Got love that CND dollar right now.

I don't know where you are getting your Canadian pricing but we are much closer then 3900! and we offer factory warranty, additional warranty, yamabuck incentives and cashback rebates. A reasonable canadian sled deal with value added incentives minus no travel, no fuel, no hotel, customs fees and warranty peace of mind and I think we are much closer. If yamaha makes anymore adjustments to their pricing then I would think you would have to think long and hard about purchasing US product. I realize money makes the world go around and with the dollar something has to happen...but if you purchase down south only to have Yamaha Canada and your local dealer offer something that is much more favourable in the future yer stuck...I know my loyal customers will be treated like royalty for their patronage...Those that go south are on their own and there isn't a damn thing I can do about it. I'm not going hate or judge them cuz I like a good deal too...but in these volatile times I think it's smart to weigh your options. The customer that sticks with his local dealer....well, lets just say I won't forget that!

Food for thought and what ever you decide it's your dollar...peace

at $1.04 i was saving $500..let me break it down..
10800 us(mich %6 included)no yammie bucks..no warranty..now add riv fee and %14 cdn tax...............

canada i pd 12700+tx..i get 700 rebate,700 yammie bucks and i dont lose my 500 deposit...went in today to pick up sled and dealer took another 200 off the sled..wow..worked out good for me..and my yammie bucks pays for my floats..

Canadians owe it to their dealer to at least give him a shot. The numbers are much closer than you are being told.

Nytro Mtx 13,699 CAN MSRP
-700 Rebate
-500 Yamabucks
-1000 Value for 2 Yr Warranty

11,499

Nytro Mtx 10,191 CAN $ ( based on 10,599 @1.04 )
611 import duty @6% ( made in Japan )
200 RIV fee
-300 US customer cash if dealer will allow

10,702

This is less than $800 difference ( $500 if the US dealer keeps the customer cash ). As a Canadian dealer I would at least like the opportunity to make a deal with you especially when viewing the real numbers. Is it really worth the trip south for a few hundred dollars and repeat trips for any required servicing. We will service the heck out of our loyal customers that should be worth something. Buying out of country pretty much leaves you on your own.

eh
Except of course when the CDN $$ was weak some years back and all Canadian dealers exported mort than they sold to their local customers.....LOL.....your US peers are all only to happy to repay you for your prior special service to their "LOYAL CUSTOMERS" Ironic....eh.
Go ahead, please quote me......? I can buy a Nyto RTX for 9k CAD plus RIV fee. I feel for you guys but the price difference is just to far apart.
(no bs, my family owned a dealership for over 30 years)

Although.......all is well now, the government has a new plan that will modify the RIV program making it no longer possible to import a 2008 sled into Canada........that will make all happy again......NOT......

cheers, Brian
