Ran into an old ridding buy of mine today. Once we got passed the hows the family stuff it was onto sleds. He is a hardcore Polaris guy since the early 80's. Back in 2000 he bought a viper and absolutely hated it says it was the biggest mistake in his snowmobiling career. So when i told him i was buying a new yamaha apex all he could do was cut it up. Kind of pissed me off. I tried to defend my choice, but his final comment stuck. He asked me if i rode one and i had to say no. I was basing my choice on what i had read on here. heseemed to think that was a foolish thing to do, buying one before trying one.

i really hope you guys who own something other than yamahas who are buying the new yamaha are telling it like it is. sometimes i think some of the hardcore rx-1 yamaha guys would ride a dog turd and say its an engineering master piece.

i know all you guys have seen the apex gt beating the machz vid. I hope its true and all the other hype about these sleds.

I rode only Polaris for 30,000 cumulative miles my last Polaris was an 04 600 Classic. I put 2600 miles on it last season. Switching to Yamaha was the BEST sled decision I ever made. I put 2765 miles on my 05 Rage in 30 days last season. You will never ride another two stroke belive me!

I rode the new sleds. It was bitter sweet. Sweet because the 06's are so much ahead of the 05's in ride quality and throttle snap. Bitter because I spent money on the 05. Oh well wife will have a new sled. And she likes the 05 ride a lot better than her 04.

I'm curious as to what sled your friend rides now. You could easily give him whatever he was giving you right back. This year one of our few mechanical holdups was the polaris's in our group. They have problems with the gas tank necks seperating and it caused one couple a day of riding double and the other smelled like gas from it sloshing over during the ride. A couple friends of ours who own arctic cats not even 300 miles and a blown motor.

They all have their problems. Ride what feels comfortable. The 06's are a great sled that will perform with any two stroke and you'll still get the benefits of the four stroke.

They are gonna be fast sleds - but don't expect it to beat a Mach Z stock for stock.

You will love it though.

Ride a sowmobile, not a band wagon.

AND

That may finally be possible with the '06 Yamahas.

New Yamahas

2000 Vipers were SXR's, Viper was 2002. I also had a 2002 Viper, Yamaha lied up front about the 18HP increase oever the SXR, the suspension just plain sucked for "normal" riding. I tried to trade for a Ski-Doo but the Viper was worth very little, settled for an M10, best move I ever made. Until last year with a new RX-1. It was so good I had to go for an even better APEX. Very impressive sleds.

Hi stink,i have told you before you ordered your yammi all about my riding exsperance with the 06 attak and apex, plus i am sure i went into great detain how much i loved my 05 fusion, just kidding about how much i loved it,did i say hated it,that more like it,now that being said,if your buddy can remember last years fusion confusions,it should be fresh EGG on his face as none of us took that sled for a ride either,i was in colebrook just for such a test ride, and it was out of the question, hell they would not even fire one up for us,of course now we all know why,it would of shaken you off the seat lol,so stink if you have any questions about the 06 apex/attak line feel free to give me a call 247-6776 Peter McAvoy mornings is best,i work 2nd.. ;)!

Before the last year or 2 nobody could ride a new model before they bought. And like Beast said, consider the confusion. I was also going to point out that the Viper didn't exist until 2002, but sk-rx1 beat me to it. I bought one in 2002 and absolutely loved it. It was a blast to ride. Until I got my RX-1. And the Apex/Attack is even better. The point is, it is all personal preference. He hated the Viper, I loved it. To each his own. Until you get the new one and ride it, you won't know if you'll love it or hate it. I'm betting on love......... :yam:

Don’t be betting on beating the new 1000 machs because the odds are against you with the HP disadvantage! :ORC
Take the Apex for what it is. -150 reliable 4-stroke hp which is slightly heavier then the 2-strokes of equal HP. I don’t think any Polaris owner should be dissing the new yamaha’s considering what Polaris has to offer in comparison and not to mention all the new yamaha improvements!

Here's my two cents coming from what might seem to others on this site as a bitter unhappy rider.... I think that's how I earned the name Extreme! LOL

I had a 05RX1 that had nothing but issues from the day I picked it up from the dealer. Previously I had owned a 97 SX, 2000 SRX and a 2002 Viper. I have ridden over 25,000 miles from 97 to 2004 with NO real issues. Sure I was unhappy with the Factory ride on my Viper but after the shock upgrade I will state it was the best sled I ever rode. I look at my 05 as a lemon. With all the miles ridden and all the breakdowns that my buddies have had over the years I was the only one just putting in gas. And let me say it was certainly less than everyone else. I am so confident with Yamaha's sleds and the improvements they make year after year I bought a 06 even after my 05 issues. If you take the 97Sx and make a wish list of improvements it turned into a Viper. I am hoping the same will hold true for the RX(Apex) from 2003 to 2006. I am sold on YAMAHA and am fully converted over to 4 Strokes! I never thought I would miss the smell of Smoke!

I rode polaris for ten years, my brother still has our old 92 Indy 500, which just won't die it was a great sled, unfortunately all the other polaris's that I had did have significant problems with them, our riding group of 11 guys started out as 9 Polaris' and 2 Yamahas, to date we are now 9 Yamaha's and 2 Polaris'.
I really like my Rx-1, but after riding the 06's I assure you your friend won't be cutting them up for long!

I wouldn't listen to a thing anyone says about these. I have nothing but faith they ride as nice as the Vector I rode last season. But better!!
Those neysayers - once you take them off the line, then it's your turn to run your mouth. I know a guy with a Mach and I can't wait to line up with him. When we're done, or should I say, he's done, I'll just smile!

I had a 02 viper.. I would agree it had the worst rear suspenson ever made... BUT IT WAS A GREAT SLED otherwise.. great gas milage and ran flawlessly..

I have had TWO Rx warriors.. I crashed the first one and i loved it soooo much i had to get another.. and now i have ordered a APEX GT...

I tried the F7s and the REVS... they run good but get horrid gas milage and are noisly and dont run like the fourstrokes.. and my hands just cant take the twostroke rattle anymore..

YOU MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE... IN 6 months you will be thanking US!!
