Opinion Needed on 2012 XTX

I sold my 08 RTX and now I'm back in the market for a new sled. I was really considering the the new Viper but at 13,000, I think I will wait on that.

I'm kinda regretting selling my 08 Nytro. I liked the sled just was not real happy with the handling and the frame stuff.

So, here I am looking at a 2012 XTX that is brand new and I can get it for about 8,700 OTD. I want to be able to go out west to the Big Horns with it and I want it to handle well on the trails here in MN.

1. Will I be disappointed using it on the trails with the 144 inch 1.75 track or should I get it with the 1.25 track?

2. Is the handling and frame better on the 2012 or should I try to find a 13?

3. Is icing still a problem in the tunnel?

Thanks guys. Maybe I should get a 600 etech? Kidding. My buddy says I should.

This probably isn't helpful but I just bought a 2009 nytro rtx. I also have a 2012 polaris pro-r switchback 136 with a 1.352 cobra track. I love the polaris for the off trail and trail manners of this track. Much better then a ripsaw 1.25. I've put 800km on my nytro and I seriously don't want to ride my polaris anymore. The polaris destroys the etec powerwise. This is my first 4stroke and I seriously don't think I'd go back to a 2stroke. This motor has gobs of power down low. I kinda like the heavy weight of it. It's not as suicidal as the pro-r. I'm in the market for a new yamaha. If I go with a nytro xtx I think the 1.75 is too much lug for high speed trail so ill get the 1.352 cobra or at most a 1.5 track for it. Undecided on the viper and I don't find my nytro handles bad at all.

I ride a 2009 nytro XTX, and one friend has a 2006 apex 144 (tipped up extension) and another friend has 2009 121" apex.

When we were out last I got to ride both sleds, and I noticed 0 difference between the sleds. But what I did notice is the XTX can bridge bumps a little better in the studders...and on the 121 you can feel them a bit. As far as turning and handling the longer track, I couldn't notice anything worse/better. Maybe it doesn't wheelie as good? lol

I have an 09 Nytro XTX and this fall I switched to the Cobra. The Cobra is excellent in the deep snow and yet you can slide around the corners on the trails. It doesn't trench like the 1.25 Ripsaw in deep snow. Even the stopping distance is respectable with the Cobra on solid trails. It is spongy soft on icecy roads and wants to spin around on you at fast speeds. Otherwise I am real happy with the Cobra.

2012 XTX

I own a 2012 XTX with the 1.25 track with 114 studs. It still collects a lot of ice underneath in certain conditions. I installed a block off plate from Schmidt Bros and it helped some, but still ices up.

I run 2013 xtx 1.75 and use to run 2009 xtx with a back country 1.75 put the dupont sliders on both sleds slider issue is gone most riding is done on trails love the track
