- If you wanna ride snow cross, then do it.
- Don't be a wannabe on the trails.
- As for the frame, it sounds like the 08's were the worst of the bunch??
- Maybe I should jus hold out for a 40th Apex??
Monte...not eveyone who rides standing up is a " wannabe sno Xer "....Standup riding is very comfortable at times. Like you I am a 100% flatland trail rider, I have no use for venturing off trail and I was always sitting down. The last few years on my F7 I started to stand up more and now that I have my Nytro I am about 60% seated and 40% standing....and my back thanks me for it. You can cruise all day seated on a Nytro if you want, it's a very comfortable sled but when it gets a bit rougher..or you just need to stand up it's a very easy transition and the sled is very easy to handle. It's a great sled and very comfy if you want to do 200 mile days ( just need to be aware of gas stops...no 120 miles between fill ups ).
- Sorry...I dind't mean it like that, nor do I think that.
- I guess I just have to get used to seeing people riding standing up.
- I'm just not used to it, and when I see a huge riser, I wonder.
I find I can cover rough trail more comfortably riding standup. Where I ride, the trails get destroyed by noon on the weekends, so I usually start out sitting down and end up standing by mid-day. I'm not a snow-X wanna be ... far from it ... but I enjoy riding standup.
I ride a Phazer, though I've ridden the Nytro a little as well. Like the Phazer, the Nytro is a rider forward sled, so transitioning from sitting to standing is quick and easy. I like being able to get over the center of the sled and let it teeter back and forth through the bumps with very little rider effort.
I have a friend with an '08 RTX who has dumped most of the air out of the front shocks. The thing that strikes me when I ride his sled is how tippy it feels. That seems counter intuitive as my Phazer has a higher COG than the Nytro. My friend likes his sled setup this way though, as he says it allows him to lean into the turns better. But I don't like how unstable it feels in the straights (very tippy and lots of extra darting IMO). I've Never ridden an Apex, but I imagine it's a great sit down sled. Just depends on what type of riding you like to do. I personally go A LOT slower than you Nytro and Apex guys, and so I enjoy standup riding on the Phazer. It's also fun way to ride off trail, though that is something I rarely get the chance to do.

You might get from corner to corner fast, but your butt's going to pucker up when you find out the Nytro doesn't carve like the Apex in that corner.
I've spent my share of time on both. I LOVE my Nytro, but here's the bottom line in my opinion......
Nytro Pro's
1. HUGE back saver - I have a fairly bad back and can ride forever without issues.
2. Rider Forward control - I have a hard time riding any traditional riding style sled after going to rider froward. Rider forward feels so much safer because the majority of the mass is centered giving you a ball pivot effect.
3. Less Weight
Nytro Con's
1. The Apex is a lot better performer out of the box - The Nytro requires a few aftermarket parts to get it to perform - Means more $.
2. Corners - The Apex flat out corners on rails - You lose some cornering with the Nytro.
3. Power - Although you wouldn't be dissiapointed with the Nytro, It's no Apex.
4. Wind Protection - Nytro has none unless you get a BIG windshield.
5. Hand Warmers - Nytro hand warmers suck - Again more $. (Yamaheater)
All in All if you don't mind loosing some cornering, have a FAT wallet, and you want to save your back, the Nytro may be for you. Keep in mind that if you get into a rider froward machine, you may NEVER want to ride a traditional style sled again. It's addictive.

I agree on the rider forward design. After riding my Nytro, I jumped on my brothers '97 V-Max, and wondered how in the world I was able to put 7000+ miles on mine!! I can't, and don't want to ride a traditional style sled again.

Based on what you've posted so far, I think you sound more like an Apex guy then a Nytro guy. That is not supposed to sound like an insult. I just think a sit down trail rider who thinks standing and risers are strange is going to be a lot more comfortable on a Apex then a Nytro.
