Ordering Thunder Jets?? - PICTURES!

i dont have a service manual. what main jets would mine take? i ride from 200-3000ft in 20F average temp. im going to get the thunder jets also.

It is installed and I really like it. I went with an 18" and it basically sounds stock. Maybe a little louder. All the guys said it sounds like a ferrari or something running up the hill. Very happy and no rejetting needed. The book says:

0-670ft @ -4 to 32 degrees = 137.5
670-1700ft. @ -4 to 32 degrees = 135
1700-6700ft @ -4 to 32 degrees = 132.5

well i went to the local dealership to talk to a machanic to see what size my jets were to order some thunder jets and he went to his work bench and picked up a float bowl update for my my rx-1m. so i guess im not getting thunder jets. i installed them last night. seem to salve the problem.

Wow! That's pretty cool. My luck they wouldn't even know what I was talking about if I went in there. Those guys are morons! Wouldn't ever think of taking my sled or R1 in there for them to work on!!

thats how i feel too. i dont know why they were kinda nice that time. the people in back always seem nicer than the people out front. but im happy i dont have to deal with that anymore.

I actually went in today to talk to the mechanic and he had two float-bowl updates just laying there also. I gave him my sled VIN number and he is going to call Yamaha Monday to see if they are free for me. We'll keep our fingers crossed! Gonna install them this afternoon when I install Kachess' new airbox. I am going to longtrack this thing and be D-U-N Done! Can't wait!

Well, I got the float bowl updates done. Seems to run fine. Also got Kachess' airbox on. You really can tell a weight difference in the boxes, and it's just so much cleaner looking. Now I can finally reach right down to my filter! I still have to figure out what to do around the back of the seat with the new exhaust.

Stock airbox weighs 7.xx pounds, I would say you save 4-5 with that thing. Is the white flap absolutely necessary?

I rolled my sled into a tree well a few weeks back where it sat upside down for ten minutes, then on its right side for another 35 minutes, and NO oil entered the airbox. A few days ago I rolled onto the left side first, then immediately rolled it all the way over to get it unstuck, there was a 1/2 cup of oil in the stock airbox. Makes sense to look at it, keep it off the left side. How well will this box keep oil away from the carbs, any different? Does the foam filter have a reasonable seal?

Mark, not sure about the oil issue. It should be the same as the stock airbox. I wasn't sure I would like it, but it has really grown on me since the install. It's clean, and feels nice and sturdy on there. The white snow flap is probably the way to go since the stock box came over the top of the inlet. The hood vents would sit right there above it. Just cheap insurance I guess!

Aaron, I guess you ruled out the ECP's? I am thinking about them, but not sure yet. $$ is always the limiting factor.

I did. Didn't want to spend the $285 and have to mess with jetting is what it basically boils down too!
