The link for this article came in an email I recevied from Polaris. Interesting reading for sure. Not sure where they got the hyfax and spark plug costs for the Apex. Seem spendy. G.B.

The Hyfax is for the new Vespel ones (as is written below in the article) and the spark plugs price is due to the fact the Apex needs 4 of them.

No doubt the Apex will win out over the long term. Dissecting/disputing individual part prices and service costs can apply across all OEMs.
Doing your own maintenance further improves your savings.
I can see Chris Reid from Yamaha Canada referring to this OSM article in a future blog promoting Yamaha long term savings.

Seems like a well done article, maybe I'll subscribe - I've never heard of this magazine before.
I think the next chart they show should be Total Costs - Trade in or Retail value to attain the true cost of ownership. A 2 smoke with 3K miles on it won't hold it's value anyywhere near the Apex.

OSM magazine used to Be an acronym for Ontario Snowmobiler Magazine. At the time they were the official mag for the OFSC (Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs), but lost out a couple of seasons ago to Supertrax.
Instead of folding, they changed the acronym to represent On Snow Magazine and expanded across Canada, but I don't know if it's sold in the States. They do have some credible articles no doubt, and this one is a valid and interesting one.

My wife is the Administrative Assistant at OSM.
OSM USA is HUGE. She sells subscriptions all week for the USA mag!!
The name change to 'On Snow Mag' I think was brilliant, allowing them to expand their portfolio.
I don't think your story on the OFSC and Supertrax thing is really all that correct......
...I am not privy to that many details, Supertrax is owned by Lesters, OSM is Kehoes, both of which were partners at one point until about 10 years ago....something along those lines....
OSM solely OWNS the Toronto International Snowmobile & ATV/Powersports Show and the The Motorcycle Supershow (January in Toronto).
The two biggest industry shows in Canada.....

Hmm, they're bigger than I thought. I didn't know that, thanks.

If I recall they have two subscriptions also. One for the states and one for Canada. When I ordered mine years ago the lady on the phone said they switch up the trail info and advertising to be relavent for those areas sold/published. Very smart on their part.
