Just found out yamaha sent my dealer a set of performance dampers for my 17 viper free of charge. He and i knew nothing about this. Hey a added bonus from yamaha, take that any day. LOL! Question is are they worth putting on? Then one under the hood i dont mind as you dont see it but if they make no difference in ride not sure i want to look at that on my bumper. What was the general though on weather these helped or not. If they help stabilize the ride im all for it. You would have thought they would have put those on the sidewinder with as much torque and twist as this machine will produce on the chassis. Thanks for any help. Chris

I cannot answer you question but they came with my LTX LE. I moved the rear one to underneath the tunnel so that I could fit the Powderkeg unit.

I would install no way they spend that kind of $ and time if no effect. On cars this is proven our sled butt meters are so over stimulated by ride surface, track rolling, motor/clutch/ drive shaft RPMS and on and on we cant feel it so we doubt. I wouldn't never pay for them but hey if free.................

I did an experiment last year. drove half the year without dampers and installed them half way through.

experiment fail! I have no idea if they helped lol. good conversation piece

There's some snake oil-ness to it but just because the impact is small doesn't mean it isn't there.

This video and specifically the part linked to at that time stamp shows a little about what they do. What's it worth? I have no idea. LOL.

I'll take them if you don;t want them...it stops the "hum" in the chassis....only on high performance riding settle it down...

I rode half last year with out and suffer from numbness and tingling in my hands a lot, even on my apex for the last 6 yrs. After I installed these I barely had any problems on a 500k weekend.

Good point. I have had a lot of problems with my throttle hand/fingers going numb, have to continuously shift hand position and wiggle fingers at every opportunity. I should know relatively soon if they are going to help.

Yup! Sounds just like me! 30 yrs of cutting Sheet metal is to blame I think.

Makes sense. I have similar problems at times. Looks like they are going on. Thanks guys.
