Phazer Fan Options

I bought a r6 fan. It's big. It barely fits in there and there was no way to bend the brackets to get three points of contact to the radiator. Two if your lucky then you have to fab something up. Very tight space and hard to keep it from rubbing on the radiator.

now that i think of it, i only have 2 brackets holding it on. ran it all last year with no problems. it's not flimsy at all. it's rigid enough the way i have it mounted.
it fits in there, i ended up putting washers between the fan bracket & rad. so the fan wouldn't hit the rad. fins.

rayknobs, i have 1 on the bottom & 1 on top. i'll get some pics this weekend when i get to the sled.

maybe even take it for a burn around my little mx track if we get the snow the weather guys are saying.

here's my fan mounted.

you can kinda see the lower bolt in there.

I would hit something and drive the fan into the radiator

btw that makes it sound like your thinking its mounted in the front

ALSO i had an 07 w/o fan and it overheated on a perfect 4 inch 20 degree day at aroune 60-70 on groomed trails so yeah your lucky or your temp guage is FED up

Nice work there - thanks for the information for a low $$$ solution to a problem on the trail. What size bolts did you use on the bottom and top?

Just got the fan today, and for the record the 2002 R6 fan is way too big.
Ill look for one that is from an 2004 or newer, and see what happens.

but at least we can add to the list of what not to buy is one from a 1999 thru 2002

where are the pics?

there was a pic on this thread a few days ago now it gone? what happen - now I see it. Can you tell me if that is the right fan or left fan to purchase the correct one off ebay? The R1 fan looks smaller

Looks like the left one, based on the bracket locations, but the brackets are supposed to be moveable.

I did find out that the 2003 thru 2008 r6 fan are all the same. I just bought that one, another $28.00 but hay still alot cheeper than the actual kit. If this one works ill still only be into it for under $50.00, and at least we will have a year and model range to look for.

If anyone has a use for a 99 thru 02 R6 fan they can have the one i got, just pay for the shipping, or if you live near Buffalo then just pick it up.

Update,

I recieved the 03 thru 08 R6 fan, and again it was just too big.
I contacted the guy i bought it from, and he was willing to exchange it for one that was off a 2004 R1. This fan fits pirfect, and the electrical connection is the same as the one on the wiring harness. The top and bottom mounting hole fit, to the radiator and i had to cut off the third tab. I was not happy with how much movement there was in the fan. I drilled a hole in the tab that i cut off, and was able to use a mounting stud for the fan, and bolt it to the third mounting bracket on the radiator. now the fan assembly is compleatly solid.

Anyone going this route for a fan, just remember that you need one that is 5 1/2" diameter.

nice

Can you post a pic of your creation? I was wondering about the R1 fan they seem much smaller. Is it Fan A (left) or Fan B (right) as they have listed on Ebay or does that not matter? Thanks for the information
