Hi new to this forum...I am thinking about buying a 2009 Phazer GT for trail riding (for the wife) can anyone give me feed back on problems with this sled and how it rides and handles. Also are they having starter and iceing problems like some of the other Phazers.....thanks for any information

I bought one for my wife and my father bought one for my mother. The women love the way it steers lightly and the light throttle pull.

We both had to lower the handle bars by rotating them back and repositioning the brake and throttle. They are a bit high for shorter women.

The only negative is the seat in comparison to an Apex seat or even better a REV seat. They can get by with that thin hard banana seat, but they both would rather have a softer and plusher seat. Fact, the reason I am looking through Phazer posts is to see if anyone has come up with seat improvements.

saw one last week in chapleau ontario,it had a much wider seat,at least 3'' wider than a normal one but i think it was hand made,it also had a nice backrest,i have a very lousy pic

The '09 don't come out till march 14 guy.

I know the 2009 sleds haven't been released yet just wanted information on the sled as it is in 2008 and any problems

phazer GT

I have two 08 GTs with 900Km on them. The icing is still a major issue and I will be closing in the tunnel for next season. Reverse is also finicky on one of the sleds, I see this problem is common.

Make sure you ride one first, the machine is actually unstable in many situations that any other snowmobile is not. It really likes to tip over.
Get your weight as close the the front of the machine as possible.

It is amazingly good on the rough stuff but can be quite a handful on a sidehill. I love the 4 stroke but am still not sold on the handling. Calling this sled nimble is definately an overstatement. Yes, ridden aggressively it is a blast but you are always on the treshold of disaster. I do not feel it is a good wife or kid sled. Unless you are only on trails, put them on a side hill and it will get ugly. IIt is a good trail sled and rough trail sled but it's centre of gravity will surprise even seasoned riders. I have yet to tip mine but my old man has had his over 3 times! He is 67 but still a bit aggressive, ok alot aggressive. I think I will have to sell of them as he is not adjusting to the aggresive riding style well.
If you have any specific concerns about the sleds ask.

I somewhat agree. My dad tipped my FX also, but it was on a side hill area in deep snow conditions (2 feet of powder). I love the sled, but it does have it's own way of handling on side hills. Seems to like to slide down the hill a little more than other "conventional models"
