Being a flatlander living in Minnesota but still getting out West a time or two a season. I'm anxious to hear from folks out there that use a non-turbo'd Phazer MTX in MN, MI and WI and also bring it out west with them every once and a while.

Understand that the 80hp mill won't be a climber but since that's really all that's needed here in the Midwest off-trail wanted to see what people were finding in the rolling opens out west between say 7 to 9K in elevation?

Thanks much,

I usually go out to Togwotee, wy in early march with my non turbo phazer mtx. I'm not doing anything sledneck style out there, but I was usually breaking trail for my friends with 800 cc doos. Everybody told me that it would suck with it out there but it does a pretty good job by my standards. I climbed almost all the same hills that my buddies did and got stuck about the same amount as well. The only difference is that you have to watch your technique and know what you are getting into out there since the phazers are a bit underpowered. The picture is an example of me not thinking the climb through haha. All in all don't listen to the naysayers, they're all just a bunch o sally's.

Thanks for the feedback - it's much appreciated. I like the format of the YZ style seat as I rarely sit down when riding anyway. I also hear a lot of folks saying that it's unstable and tippy on the trail - which is perfect off-trail as i usually always want the sled on edge.

What's your setup for elevation? Do you gear down, run a lighter spring or weight?

I completely agree with you. I love the flickablility of the phazer. The chassis and overall geometry of the sled make it a blast to ride.
I have the stock gearing in it which is a 17 tooth upper I believe. As far as clutching goes it is stock around the mid west. When I go out west I just put the heavier rivets in according to Yamaha's guidelines. Nothing special but it gets the job done.
