Phazer Starter failure

When I turn on the key to my 07 Phazer the fuel pumps charges but when I attempt to start the sled I only get it to click. After several clicks it will sometimes start (but not always). Battery is fully charged and in new condition. This seems to happen more when it it very cold (15degrees and under). If I bring the sled inside and warm it up the issue usually goes away.
Is this symptomatic of the starter problem i.e. bolts loosening? Can the starter be checked for looseness without removing the front end.
Any help would be appreciated.

2 weeks a go my starter bolts came loose. When that happened, my starter would spin, but it just wasn't hooking up with anything. Sounded like it was free wheeling. I suppose loose starter bolt COULD cause your problem, but like I said, my symptoms were different.

You MIGHT be able to check the looseness without pulling the front end, but I doubt it. Its buried in there pretty deep. I havent tried to get at the starter with the front end on.

I just re-indexed it and red loc-tited the bolts that hold the starter assembly together.

Probably a stuck/frozen starter relay. Seems to be a fairly common thing of late.

Does the cliking sound signify that the relay is working or not working? When the sled does start it is hard to tell if the "click" haapened or not.

I would say a click means the relay is working but not the solenoid.You jumped the solenoid?Load tested battery?Cleaned and tightened all batt connections?

A click doesn't necessary mean that the starter relay is working.
I just went outside to check whats wrong with mine and discovered that my relay doesn't like -20deg C.

When I first try to start it under these conditions nothing happens. But if I try a couple of times (10s or something each try), it eventually starts to click, but still no life in the starter.

If I continue doing this for a minute or two, the starter eventually engages.

However, if I short the relay-terminals the starter engages instantly.

I have had same issues. A click does not mean the relay is working, it is trying but has moisture inside frozen keeping it from clicking all the way warm it up with a hair dryer or your hand and it should work. The cure is a new relay but it is likely to happen again if you don't address the snow ingestion issues(which causes alot of steam inside of cowlings).I had same issue multiple times and have never replaced a relay, I did however cure all snow ingestion and have not had a relay issue since.

Are you talking about the Relay or the solenoid?

Relay. Never ever had a problem with my solenoid? The relays make a light clicking sound also

It sounds like the problem has been figured out, Thank you all.
I think the problem started the weekend before last when we rode 50 miles in 35 degree rain and last weekend the temp. dropped to 10 below, then the problems started.
