Are the Phazer starters rebuildable?
Winter will be here before we know it and my rig wont fire up so, gotta start thinkin ahead of time. Also just got a new job with a very nice pay increase to help me get the phazer on the snow!

What have you checked so far?? may not be the starter... how is your sled stored?

havent checked anything because when i put the sled away in march it wouldnt start. i have a brand new battery. took sled to shop in feb and they "fixed" the problem. told us it was a loose connection. it was fine for 500km or so then once it sat over night, you had to boost it off another machine to start it. once the machine was warm, it would start on its own.

try puting the battery from a different sled in and see how it starts cold. that was you can rule out the battery for sure. Even some new batterys dont work.

Yes, the starters are rebuildable. There is a post in the Tech sticky at the top of the page.

did not find any sticky thread that actually told me wther the phazer starters were rebuildable or not. thanks anyway.
after 14,000km on this engine, im sure its time to do the starter considering I was one of the lucky ones who did not have a starter problem right from the get go back in 07'

There are 3 threads that would have told you that. One of them even has pictures to show you how to remove the front end and starter and even how to line things back up. All of them located and labeled in the sticky.

My starter went at the end of Winter, I started it off the clutch with a tiedown strap for the last month. Got it fixed in April (still under YES warranty- the dealer said that was only the 2nd one he's ever had to replace on a Phazer).
Mine made a few small clicks at first then no noise at all. It wouldn't even start with the key like your saying yours did after jumping it and ran when warm.
Have you tried by passing the relay (screwdriver across the terminals) or another relay even?
Sounds like a bad battery as Yamahas mentioned-
Jumping it off another sled is fine while it has juice but if a bad cell is present, it'll run off the battery till drained down.
(just had my street bike do this, new battery was fine for 2 months then it went to hell) bad cell.
Maybe charge the battery up full then have it load tested before tearing into the sled
** You CAN start it by using the clutch- takes a bit (pull it over right after the key/ fuel prime has done it's thing). No extra battery/ jump pack needed
