Hi guys, i currently have 2 apex's.. 07RTX and an 08 40th... my wife is saying that the apex is a wee bit too heavy for her, and she would like to get a Phazer... i want a nytro. I have ZERO seat time on these little 500's but am wondering what the top speeds of these little monsters are.... and how are the power-weight ratio??

cheers,
sherlock

80-92+ on the speedo depending on the gearing.

0-60 is where the sled shines.

can hang when the big boys in the twistys no problem.

Little 500s, little monsters, they're so cute!
She sure the heck isn't going to want half the power! Oh my God, she'll think it's broke! lol.

I hit 90 on a hard packed road totally stock. 80 realistically on the trail. But 0 - 60 is definitely where its at its best. Riding with my neighbor on his apex in open fields was a chore. But in the trails I can hang with him no problem. We switched for a little while and he says the phazer is way more fun, i agree.

Ya this is what i've thought.... that is the problem... we are used to have ours just getting warmed up at 80... its the tight twisties that gets to her.. but once we hit the "open trails" 100+ is common... this is why i'm leaning to a nytro... 120 less pounds and almost the same hp's... a probably better choice for where we ride....

cheers..

There is a ride report about this in either the Apex or Vector section. Guys say the weight loss on the Vector VS the Ape is the first thing they noticed. That may be a good option? Same type of sled, and ride, less weight and still good power.

Just be aware they are tippy if you ride them like like you would the apex. I am talking about the phazer and nytro.

Phazer and Nytro are more for stand up riding. Something you should consider, also.

My 09 RTX will run right to 95mph "indicated" and no more. Must be fully shifted out and won't go any faster. Seems to hit a wall at 95. I believe either taller gearing or a machined clutch with more shift out would give it a few more mph.
Plan to go the clutch route, just don't know if It will happen before the season is over.

when I first bought my phazer in its stock condition it did about 120km/h
Now it does around 130-135km/h.
sorry Im from Canada so my speedo is in kilometers per hour.

Interestingly enough, my other sled is a 2000 V-max 500. It only has reeds, secondary clutch and exhaust silencer swaps and it pulls 145-150km/h top speed.

I agree that the 0-100km is where the phazer shines.

After some further thought, may change to a 19T top gear. I noticed that the RTX has the shortest gearing of the various models. Probably because of its intended usage. I ride strictly in the trails and therefore don't really need great low speed pull. The stock track doen't like to hook up well at low speeds anyway. Would rather have a little more performance in the 40-80 mph range. BTW 135km/h is about 83 mph. Unless you are quoting gps or radar speeds you should be faster than that. 95 mph (again that is indicated by the speedo) is roughly 152km/h.

I have an 07 gt an my brother has an 08 gt. his is stock with the 20 tooth top gear. Mine has a 18 tooth gear, Ulmer clutch kit and a Skinz exhaust.

Mine is quite a bit faster out of the hole with the gearing and is a tiny bit faster on top end compared to his. I'd definitely recomend the 18 tooth gear over the 20 any day.

Voda thanks for the reply and I can appreciate what ur saying but. Ur not exactly comparing apples to apples given that one has a clutch kit and exhaust mods. Now some of you may say well what difference does that make? And my response is that if it didn't make a difference in performance why spend the money. Ur mods seem to have worked for you and that's great. But I am not looking into exhaust mods for my phazer cuz I don't want more noize. Have an Excell exhaust on my Apex and love it but, it is loud and don't wont that for the phazer. What I want is more speed and willing to sacrafice some acceleration for it either through gearing or clutch mods.
