How many picks in a track if the track is 136", and the pattern is 3 and 2??

I studded my 136" Attak with 162 studs down the middle (1.38" Accord Racing, Warthog XZP's with Big AL tall nuts - Got from Johnmaster on the web or he's also on e Bay). The pattern was alternating 4 studs (with double backers) then 2 (single backers). This means there are 54 lugs (spaced approx 2.5") around the 136" to get to 162 studs
(27 x 4) + (27 x 2)
108 + 54 = 162
If you alternate 3 then 2:
27 X 3 = 81
+
27 X 2 = 54
__________
= 135 studs
This might be TOO LIGHT for the power of an Apex/Attak. I would opt for the 144 studs with the power of the machine and the long studs required with the 1.25 Ripsaw track to prevent pull throughs.
I am very pleased with the pattern I used with single/double backers (from a Woodys template). Some guys on this site talk about vibration with the doubles. I have not found this to be the case.

I thought it was 144? His math seems right though??
Studding numbers all depends on what you are looking for your studs to do. If you are drag racing on ice and need a hole shot the 168 or 192? pattern works great but kills your top end. I run 108 - 1.450" Woody's and have no problems. I do not drag on ice tracks but do run radars on the ice with this setup with minimal spin. Have no problem pulling big sleds on hardpack. Minimal push in the corners.
Just remember, the more studs you have the slower your stock machine will go on the big end.

Yeah, the math is right. Looks like its 135. I didn't want to do anymore than that. I was gonna go with just two in each window, but thought it best to do 2/3 split. Going to Northern Maine this weekend. Can't wait to put a full days mileage on it. Should be great fun!!!!
