Just wondering if most who use the 5.7 pilots also shim them? I haven't yet and with the much firmer rubber in the skidoo ski rubber wondering the need I run 6 inch shaper bars I've used the stock skis and Simmons Flex skis and these with the pilots being the best for my riding style just wish off trail they were a bit better Thanks for your thoughts mark

i have the 6.9's on mie without shims. i didnt need them . you might, just depends on how your suspension is set up. try it without first. i did add a thin waasher between the ski bushings and and the piece where the ski rubber sets to prevent any where between the two. probably not necessary , but cheap insurance. you will want to run carbides on the outside to prevent ski wear. the doo guys complain of ski wear without them. i run 6" shaper bars in the center and 4" doo runners on the outside.

I run the stock Doo 4 inch on the outside how are the 6.9s in the powder I'm sure alot better than the 5.7s?

I shimmed my 5.7's from day one so I'm not sure how they would handle with out shims, but what a great setup with the shims. very happy with mine....except in deep powder, which we almost never have here in PA anyway.

If you use the Ski-Doo ski rubber made for Pilot Skis (RD P/N 08-326-01) you should not have to shim them. These will cause a downward force on the rear of the ski. You will see what I mean after they are installed and at the end of the season the rear of the carbide runner will be worn. I usually build the rear of the carbide runner back up with weld at this point because the front and center portion is hardly worn at all. Try RD link below for a picture of the ski bumper required……..

Ski doo rubbers and no shimming works for me.
Not having any snow to ride on doesn't!!!
