Pilot ski alignment?

Hello,
I purchased a used pair of 6.9 pilot skis for an 07 phazer with a 136x1.5 track. I read that on skidoos they run the pilots with zero toe out.
Those of you running pilots, are you running them with zero toe out or 1/4" out etc? Also, did you find it neccessary to shim them or adjust the limiter strap? Thanks!

Up till recently I had been running Pilot 5.7's on my 144" stretched RTX. I am running atleast 1/4" toe out and using 3/8" shims with modified stock ski rubbers. I pulled the limiter strap down one hole from the stock setting. Hope this helps. G.B.

You said you used modified stock rubers. Did you cut the rubers to fit over the plastic ridges in the ski? If so, what did you use to make the cuts? Also, did you place the shim at the end of the rubber bumper or inside the plastic ridge, i.e. inside the back cut?

Yes, I cut a slot across the bottom of the stock rubber so it would sit over the rib on the ski. I used an air tool with a cut off wheel along with a knife to cut the slot. Maybe a hack saw too? I placed my shims on the bottom of the rubber at the rear edge. There are two small holes in the rubber bottom near the rear edge. What I did was drive (2) no. 8 or 4.2 mm sheetmetal screws thru the shims so there was a half inch or so of the screw sticking out of the shim stack. I then used silicone adhesive and glued a rubber cap from wire closet shelving over the point of the screws. The two screws with the caps fit into the holes in the bottom of the rubber to hold it in place. Make sense? G.B.
