Hi :yam: I will be running a 1000' radar run on a pond Sunday the 18th for fun and bragging rights.

I'd like to set up my Apex for this event.

My 07 RTX is stock except for the 10ek plugs and 144 Mack studs up the middle of the stock Ripsaw. Please give me some advise on what to do to best set up my sled for these runs.

I weigh 195 dry and plan on only running about 1/4 tank of Reg fuel on that day.

According to the link, the pond will be a plowed course with 2 lanes. As far as I can tell there will be no prizes and they will try to keep all the classes of sleds the same. I will not be purchasing any upgrades before this event and i will run the sled as it is now. ;)!

I did a 660' early last season and won the nights' event up against, to name a few, an 04 F7, a 05 Mach Z and an 06 RTX Ulmer clutched, large occupant ;):D That night my sled hooked up on the loose conditions and this time I have no idea what might happen?

Should I drop the Floats, like many have done. ( Dan's Avatar ) set the transfer nuts for skis in in the air??? or keep em' down? I'll take all and any suggestions and help for this event. Again this is just for fun, but to tell the truth, with my two brothers-in law there too, one on an 08 XP 800R, and the other on an 07 Blizzard 800, I want to kick :moon:

Thanks for any and all help to show em all what these heavy 4 strokes can do!

Doug

It's all about finding that perfect balance of weight transfer. too much you'll have to let off to steer... not enough and you won't hook up. I see your runnin' 1.450's.. u should spank em. I would run the floats with low psi.. Good luck!! I just finished demolishing 2 mxz 800's and a modded zr800.. felt so good.. haha 06 RTX piped...

If your not going to spend any money on anthing to make it faster, your left with taking the air out of your front shocks and sucking up the rear skid. Is this on ice? if so, can you swap out your studs for some ice picks?

turn with your feet... I would go max transfer and just rely on leaning on the tunnel to steer (within reason and safety of course)

The 1.450s will be the biggest gain I think.

I wish I had them on mine.

here is mine with 1.325s on almost glare ice....

different skid though and pretty good transfer....I can only imagine how much better it would be with different studs. I think next year its 136 track, one inch lugs and 1.25 studs.

Nice!!! I ran real good that night with max transfer and did what you said, I ended up steering with leaning on the tank. I thought maybe it might be better to keep the skis down a bit. I will take most of the air out and drop the front down real low. not sure yet if this will be glare ice as they said it would be a plowed track which may turn into ice real soon.
Thanks for the response. Doug

That XP is gonna be real FAST... seen a Polaris battery in it and he is sporting Polaris boots...LOOK OUT
Good Luck Doug :flag:
