ok so a friend of mine sold me his very very clean 2004 rx warrior, it has been meticulously maintained and only ridden far north.
thats about where the good ends, this past weekend i brought it on a trip thinking the fiance could put some miles on it while i rode my nytro.... totally not the case she hated it...
i put her on my nytro only to confirm everything she said, the sled does not turn. you have to let off to get the sled to bite into a corner literally have to slow down to a stupid speed to get this thing to turn. i wake up the next morning and install brand new 6" dual carbide runners. same thing.
i want to invest in an apex seat and bar risers but before i do i need to know this sled could be set up to ride on the trails.
can anyone help me with setting this thing up to handle? is this a common issue with the warriors ?
also is a steering relocator availiable for this sled?
any help would be appreciated i would hate to have to sell this sled but so far my first impression is its not gonna be a good sled for back up or to stick the fiance or brother on. i need to get this thing to handle as easy as possible before i think about putting anymore miles on it .

Need more info! Are ski's stock? Was the trail hard pack or fresh snow? Track studded? Need more info!
Sounds like not enough ski pressure! Try sucking up the limiter straps a bit at a time!
From what has been said on here dualys tend to push.
Snow conditions make a huge difference as well.

If you have stock skis, doolys are a good start. Warriors( long tracks) are hard to turn especially if you have a lot of pics. Is it hard to turn ( heavy front) or does it push bad through the corners? My warrior and my current apex long track were both a bear to turn at slow speeds! Depending on what conditions are also make a big diferance also.

1ST- its a Warrior, decent ride with the 136 proaction, can be improved with many different options.
2nd- ski lift/wont turn/push, stock skis I am assuming. Bergstrom Triples Carbides w/ski savers. HAVE YOU SHIMMED THE SKIS? This is a must. 8" if studded, 6" if not studded. Dualies not a good idea on these skis, they will increase push. MOST IMPORTANT- remove all preload from the front shock springs, raise front of sled, back off locknuts on top of springs until they turn by hand, match each side by counting the threads. YOU NEED THE A ARMS TO BE LEVEL.
3RD- The driving style you mentioned is only partially correct.
How to corner a RX1/Warrior 101; with the ski lift and pushing and the added weight, you can approach the corner at any speed, WOT if you like, just before the corner, left off of the throttle, the engine braking will immediatley drop the front of the sled, thus lowering the center of gravity, hold it tight in the corner, once you are 1/3 to 1/2 into the corner you can pin it out of the corner. You may get some ski lift, but it wont flip, hold on to that power, lean into it, and grin ear to ear.
If you add an apex seat, it will only make you sit higher, thats more tippy, but hey, you get a trunk out of it. Or you can just purchase a trunk bag. The 05 seat was an upgrade from the 03/04 seats. A 2" riser is as big as you can go w/o changing cables. Hooks work well also, but don't use aluminium ones, they will suck the heat out of the handle bar grips. I use plastic ones from Poo.

Loosen the spring pressure on both fronts.

it pushs in the corner as in does not turn goes straight until i rally get to a slow speed then turns , the are stock skis 6" dooly carbides which i would like to keep for a few trips atleast get some money out of them.
and it is a 1.25 ripsaw with 2 studs per bar in the middle only.

what would you recommend for the 136 proaction?

i think a 2" riser would help alot im gonna try that before i go for all the cables.

My warrior didn't turn until I put on a set of C&A's, sucked up the strap and put a bigger nylon washer on the transfer rods and set the rods to zero transfer, it turned great then but still had a lot of ski lift so I added a 13mm sway bar and that flattened it out. After I had 3000 miles on it and my front shocks were toast, rather than run the stock shocks loose on a new set I opted for a set of Fox floats for a RS Nytro I think they were 1.5" shorter, I could run higher pressure in them and keep the A-arms parallel. I also had the RS Nytro seat, Mountain cable from an 05 and a 4" bar riser. I didn't notice it being more tippy? My Advise would be, if you plan on keeping the sled and have stock skis----Snow Trackers, and some of the adjustments these guys have, if you go with a Apex/RS Nytro seat and a riser get some bars from one of these sleds too, the stock RX bars are very uncomfortable when you raise them up. Oh one last thing....If you plan on keeping the woman? Let her ride the Nytro when she's with you because no matter what you do the steering is going to be heavy! My set up was awesome on groomed trails which is where you'll want to stay with a Warrior.

bergstrom triples & ski savers along with shims works great on my sled
reduce preload on front shocks as others have stated is a must...not to mention a better ride

Pioneer for the 13mm bar, ask Sasquatch about the FRA and other skid adjustments...I've been off the Warrior for 4 years.

With sled sitting on the floor take all the slack out of the limiter straps on the skid till they are tight then about a half an inch more on the bolt. If you still have no ski pressure tighten some more.
If after you do this you find it to be to tippy its because the RX's like to have the front low a arms level with the snow. Stiffer sway bar helps for some. If you lift the front of your sled up so the skis are off the floor you then back off the adjusting nuts on the front ski springs till the springs are loose. Tighten one to two turns to take the slack out of the springs. You will now have to repeat the first step.
05 had a 11mm sway bar but 04 and 03 I think where 10mm. If you have lots of body roll add a stiffer bar.
On the transfer rod there are two nylon washers. A 5 mm on top and a 10mm on bottom I had the best ride and handling when I replaced the bottom 10mm with a 5mm.
This site will answer a lot of questions on how to set up the skid for ride, transfer and FRA settings.

For more info start on page 26 and read forward till about page 16 on warrior setups. Many different thought on this.
