I have one on my Viking. Dealer says it is welded in and the only way to fix it is it replace the arm-$250. I'm thinking maybe a stonger grease gun? Any other ideas?

Thxs.

Sometimes the little ball gets stuck, take a needle, piece of wire...and see if the ball can be pushed in.

I had one that was stuck open.. I kept hitting it with penetrating fluid and worked it with a pin. I would also try a little heat after a couple days of wd 40. I do believe that you can get a device that will pump oil under a bit of pressure to flush them out but I'm not too sure of the cost.

I have seen someone take a torch and gently heat one and then it would take grease. If it is in a tight area on the skid I would try a heat gun first. MS

Grind it off and tig a new one on. A welding shop might charge you 20 bucks to do this. Your dealer is a bafoon!
I agree!

Easy and cheap to replace. If you heat it up and try to pump some grease in I would use a propane torch and don't get it red hot as it will take the temper out of the spring under the ball. If that fails along with WD40 then ya pop out the arm and take to shop.

X3

You could also drill a hole and tap a new one in but it will not be as strong as one that is welded.

They make a tool that you fill with grease and hit with a hammer to force fitting open. I like the pin drift or small nail set with a little hammer tap with some penetrating oil first to loosen ball if stuck.

I don't think the ball is stuck. Grease leaks around the weld on my sled.

So it might be blocked inside the shaft. Take.it apart and.clean from inside. Might be corrosion inside between tube and shaft.

The tool works great fill it. With pb blaster and tap away on it

That's exactly what I was talking about.

I wonder if the bushings are worn out and the hole has been scuffed shut with metal! It is a 2009! Nice Zerk tools. I'm going to put one on my Birthday list!

Remove the problem part and see if you can grease it disassembled and cleaned... If not have it all ground off and a new one welded on for lots less than $240... In a pinch you can just slightly dremmel the ball plug tip off and run a drill bit to clean out the zerk guts and place a plastic grease cap or rubber plug over the end to keep dirt out after greasing...
