Plugs

I bought a set for $6.29 each from my local Napa store. But I do know the manager so that might have helped on the price.I know my sled started better with the cr9eix plugs in and they are darn near foul proof I had a hard time (2 sets of plugs) figuring out it was a 4- storke not a 2 -stroke and need to be started different.I was leaving choke on to long. ;)!

The higher priced ones I believe ran me around 10 a piece, but I believe that they had better spark, no plug up issues.

I got a set from Murrays auto for $5.50 each. I believe Murrays is a chain that originated out of the Detroit area and has spread thru mid Michigan.

I also Bought a set of the double electrode NGK's that freddie recommends from Advance Auto for $5.29 each.

Hay guys, Whats all this talk about plugs?..Silver.. said his new plugs are ( darn near foul proof ) Are you guys telling me I will have to spend $24-$40 to keep my new RX-1 from fouling plugs?. The only time I have seen 4-strokes foul is when the plugs are very old, One of the reasons I went 4-stroke was I didn't think they would foul plugs. In 3 years on my VIPER I think I only lost 3 or 4 plugs and they was only $ 2 a piece. So whats the real story...thanks...Gary.

Gary, there were some issues with some 03's at warm up fouling plugs. If I remember right, it had to do with the carbs (plugged idle circuits). Those that had the problem had their dealer clean the carbs and all was well. There were also guys that started their sled up nightly just to hear that great engine and not allowing it to fully warm up. That's why in an earlier post from months back I suggested that you fight the temptation of starting it over and over again for your buddies :4STroke:

3400 miles never touched the plugs and never had an issue with fouling. Guess they just put the silver ones together better  I agree with Big Black Warrior these plugs should be good for a long long time :D

THANKS GUYS,, I feel better now. As I have said I dont know any thing about the YAMAHA 4- stroke's. So just about every thing about them is new to me.. DAN.. I will give you a call when I get my new RX-1 home...Gary.

Need snow The problem I had was me leaving the choke on to long old habits die hard I guess. Also I'm sure some people are riding with bad plugs mine would never miss or anything like that it would just run flat on top end.I raced my wifes Viper across an airport could not get away from her she even beat me once.Thought this isn't right changed plugs and beat her very badly ever time and sled did not feel flat at the top any more.Like I said no miss or anything like that and plugs looked fine but obviuosly they didn't have good spark at peak rpm.

I work part time at a dealership, and over the last 10 yrs, the parts dept has sold approx 1000 spark plugs to the sales department. 99.9% of these plugs were fouled because the choke was not shut off as soon as it could be... BTW the last 15+ 2 stroke vehicles I have owned, I have lost 1 spark plug only because I was too lazy to correct the fuel delivery that I was tinkering with.
