I want to ear your comment on the power commander?

And did you notice a gain in acceleration or top speed?

YES!!!

BOTH!!

But shhh, dont tell your buddies, hahhaa

The PC III sticks out right where there is a vent in your hood (similar to the vent on non-pto side where you can see the thermostat)

Mine is covered in electrical tape for stealth.

Yes, you are correct, I need to hide mine.... But, for those who are going to get one, get it from Ulmer, he has it programmed with the ignition module, which is awesome. THey increase the bot and mid range pull by a ton. What a wake up. Not cheap though, but it's a good boost in power. I highly reccommend it. My sled literally fly's comapred to last year. I added the PCIII, ignition module and RAM AIR kit from FIX and changed my studs from 1.325 to 1.450 and this thing is an animal now.... Very fun to drive..... As far as top end is concerned... I borke 121 on the DM on a groomed trail, but in soft conditions, which I thought was pretty good, because last year, I would not of been able to pull that in that type of condition.... Maybe 114-115. On hard packed yes, but not when it was softer conditions. I believe I can break an easy 130 this year, in perfect conditions and even more on ice. THe kicker is you have to run premium fuel or the sled will start to run slow and doggy and just is not advised. Ulmer did run 300 miles with 87 and did not see any problems, but he still says you have to run Premium, but if you have to run 87 between fills ups then you can do si, it just won't perform with a s&&*T.

I wouldn't hesitate to monitor a wideband with a PCIII

Allen Ulmer did all his testing with a Wide Band for several months backed by some dyno runs. The dyno runs mean squat, but him using the wide band and he pretty muched tested it all last year, which makes it pretty safe. I know all machines are different, but the 4 strokes run more consistant than any two stroke. I held it wide open a few times at more than 4000ft and everything was fine. Just run Premium fuel or it starts to run like crap and just does not pull as hard. Allen may chine in here and give us some more detail if he would like. Also Fixpowersports has the same setup and are very comfortable with the way it runs and are also reccomending it as a good boost. 10 hp and at a very low of 5 sled lengths all the way through, but it was more like 7 for mine and I did not even have good conditions to try really see what it would do. This is with all.... The airbox mod, PCIII and ignition module. On good hard ground maybe 8-9? on the long haul. That's a good gain. To finally answer your question, yes it would not hurt, but I believe it's not neccessary from all of the testing that has been done. By the way, Ulmer's service is very very good.

Also, I forgot to mention.

I also have the ignition module to go with the PC III, and both are setup for the stealth airbox mod and bender racing pipe I have on.

On top of all that, I have ulmers stage 2 clutching to go with it along with windage plates. To hook up, I studded my 136" ripsaw with 162 1.325" woodys SS studs.

This thing is absolutely stupid fast.

I wrapped my secondary at 6-3 instead of 6-2. Allen told me that its just a 100 rpm, difference, but I dont know if it raises or lowers that rpm.

And just so you all know, the bender sounds amazing, but it makes me drive like a whimp through town. There is also an annoying droaning sound when riding, but you only notice it after an entire day for some reason.

Whats the deal with the octane in fuel, I had no idea I had to run high test?

That's what he told me, Make sure you run Premium... Also, I should note that I do have the same as you as far as clutching and windage plates are concerned. I do have the Fix Air Lid, but with Stock exhaust. I plan on getting the excell exhaust.... Why 6-3 and not 6-2?

power commander

Ok, last year I did the plugs, stealth mod, clutch, secondary an seen some real gains.
This year so far, ram air and new exhaust. Now without the power commander or tfi. I think I slowed down? Yesterday with my buds, had a hard time staying ahead of them.
Seat of the pants said it was faster, but seeing my buds sled neck and neck was reality.]
Any input would be helpful guys.

What do your buddies ride, and who is to say they didn't make some modifications of their own?

First off, who's clutch kit do you have. What Ram Air, Fix? What is a Rumble Pack and who makes it? Last, what is your sled doing, RPM wise.... We need more info, alot more.... But, off the top of my head, I would say that now you are making it breath too much with the exhaust and airbox and it needs more fuel. PCIII and Ignition Controller would fix that. At a min, the PCIII. You also need to add another 48 studs. Your sig says 96.... You need 144at a minimum. Your adding hp, with no help in the traction department. Did you change the gearing to 23 top?

Why 6-3 and not 6-2?

I didnt see the numbers on the clutch labeled 1-2-3. I was also in a rush.

So just put it in the stock location.

Ya, put it in the stock location.
