i am interested in ordering a powercommander for my attak but i was curious about installation. is it just like a bolt on piece and does it need to be finely tuned or does it come with presets, because i have a ramair mod and my nxt move was to get a new exhaust and a good friend of mine who races in the ama told me i should def go with a powercommander first ( he rides a busa 1300 and also mentioned that cutting the airbox was a big mistake, but i did it anyway lol )

The dynojet powercommander is like the hauck fuel accelerator but the power commander allows you to decrease fuel as well as add fuel. The hauck only allows you to add fuel. You wouldn’t need both, personally I would go with the powercommander. The powercommander is attached with cable ties to the pod mounting bracket. You can see the powercommander when its mounted on the sled through an opening below the hood. I have one and I just ordered the dynojet ignition module that works together with the powercommander. I have an excell exhaust, airbox mod, powercommander and ignition module and together. Allen from ulmer has told me that with all those mods I should see about an 8 HP increase on top and more in the mid.

PowerCommander is a great device. The point of it is to increase fuel to match the air increase you get from airbox mod and lower restriction exhaust.

Be prepared for your fuel mileage to suffer, however.

Didn't notice any difference in fuel economy with the powercommander.

It did on my Harley, by about 7 mpg. OTOH, I'll grant you the two aren't even close to the same engine, so the comparison may not be entirely valid. The Harley needed an increased fuel/air ratio across the map because it was mapped so lean. Yamaha snowmobiles aren't subject (yet) to the same EPA constraints and probably aren't nearly as lean. Even so, increased air flow in general = increased fuel flow. I'll bet you'd see some decrease in mileage.

I ride with the same sleds I did before I installed the powercommande and when we refuel I still take about 1 gallon less then my buddies SRX like I always have.
