Primary Clutch over-drive

I was at a club house last night and was talking to a guy that machines clutches he said he's had good luck machining clutches to bring the belt to the top more(overdrive)...I was thinking this would not only give me a few more mph on top but it would also remove the grooves in the clutch sheaves...He said he'd only charge 50 bucks or so..I wanted to ask around on here and see what people think and if they have had any luck with this...thank you
