Two questions:

Can I remove the weights with the primary still on the machine?

Any tricks to getting the old rivets out of the weight or just carefully grind the head off and use a punch?

I want 300 rpm or so on the top end to get in the 10200ish sweet spot so I believe I am doing the right thing by going lighter on the outer (tip) rivet. They are stock 4.5 grams in there now and I was going to try 3.6 grams. I also have some 2.4 grams at my disposal.

Thanks in advance

You can remove the weights easily by removing just the primary cover. get a gram scale & grind off 1 gram from the 4.5 rivets.

It is a 8FA00 weight. If I took the head off the three outer rivets do you think that would be close to 1 gram of material?

your limited to the rivets that work in those weights. i would buy used aftermarkert hc,s or heavy hitters.

well I actually have a set of the 3.6 gram and 2.4 gram from the Pioneer Performance Clutch Kit I bought so I will start with those first before forking out 300 bucks for "super weights"

you can work on the weights without removing the clutch, its just harder than if its on a bench in front of you. be careful when removing each weight not to loose the spacer on each side when removing the bushing. you can grind and punch out the old rivets. its important that all 3 weights are the same and balanced. if you have a gram scale you can fine tune rivets, otherwise leave them whole as they are weighed and matched. install the 2.4 rivets, as a 0.9 drop wont give you 300 rpm. an orange-silver-orange yamaha primary spring works well with the stock weights.
