This is where I put mine on my phazer. Basically anywhere there is enough room on the under side for the threads and wire to sick out under the plastic. I have not used it yet since I got it after the end of the season but from trying it out in the garage I think it would work well.
If you don't already have the tether I suggest getting one with a roll over valve to stop out from leaking out the oil tank breather tube.
Hope this helps.

Do you have a pic? I got the roll over kit from oft
Yamahas, not to be a downer but my original jacobson tether didn't last 1/4 of a season. Of the 3 (Cat, jacobson and OFT) tethers I have tried, the OFT is the only one that has held up. (EDIT: It was brought to my attention that Jacobson does have a 2 year warranty on his parts. So mine would have been and still could be warranted. I just didn't check since I already had the OFT tether.)
On my last years chassis I mounted my OFT tether right where the steering post would be. With the relocator there is enough room to rivet in a little piece of aluminum and mount the tether there. I really liked it there, I'll get a picture when I get a chance. On my shorty I was in a hurry so I was able to fit it on the bars right next to the brake. But I don't have any controls on my bars.
If I remember right Nikolai mounted his right to his tank cover and it looked like a good spot.

I got a bracket from oft that puts it on the bottom of the riser. Kinda like revster's. I'll get a pic up tonight.

I drilled it out and put nuts on the back. But tapping it would work well too.
