PROBLEM! need an answer ASAP!

It wouldn't surprise me if a shop took shortcuts on an owner that didn't know much about their sled. Some dealers are better and more honest than others. With the RX-1, I've always read that it is a major PITA to change the oil on so maybe they were trying to make more money on the job by saving time and oil? In any case, partial oil changes are doing the job half #*$&@.

I don't think it's that big of a PITA except for the cursid allen key bolts. What were they thinking putting one of those pieces of crap down in a spot thats hard to get at and is tightened on really tight and needs to be torqued on with a a torque wrench. I'm iffy about drilling a hole in the plug for an easy out because of getting metal shards in the bottom of the engine. Dad had an idea but I don't know how much it would afect the actual base. He was thinking about welding somethin on to the bolt and then trying to take it out then. Would the heat warp the base of the engine?

Welding might work also, likely wont get hot enough to hurt the alu. It would forsure heat up the bolt to make it come out easier. But if I was you I would wait till spring when the snow is gone. Something might go wrong, then that means pulling the engine to replace the pan.

If I ever got to pull the motor out of that I might as well throw it out in the dump. There's no way I'd ever be able to do it myself and there's no way I'd ever be able to pay the fortune the shop will want to take it out. I'll be one very unhappy sled addict not having a sled anymore. I think it may happen soon though. I think the shop, while cleaning my carbs, completely got them screwed up. She is loay at the start when she first gets warmed up, she doesn't idle well at all when you first start her up in the morning, and usually when you first started her with the choke on she would idle right up and to tell you to let the choke go, now she just sounds like shes flooded to the gills. Last year right at the start after you warm her up in the cold she would take off without hesitation, now they got something screwed up on it making her loagy.

I already got the throttle side bulkhead part smashed to bits where it holds the bottom a-arm bolt. I had a bad encounter with ice and a rock. Dad pulled the front end back together with a ratchet strap and then welded the front end all up with braces going in all directions. I call it the frankentstein front end lol. But we never fixed it because it involves pulling the motor. Something I know I would never be able to do. Well I'd get it out that's for sure. But it would never go back in right.
