I am considering purchasing a used 2006 Venture as a backup sled for company. We presently have 2010 vector LTX and love them. We had 2006 vectors and had stator problems (had to be replaced in both sleds at 2000 miles). The sled that I am looking at only has 1660 miles and I was wondering about any potential problems with this year of ventures? any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Stator as you mentioned, and make sure the timing chain tensioner was updated.

Thank you very much for the info. Is there a simple (ha ha) way of determining if the timing chain tensioner has been updated to the new one (with the orange dot) other than depending upon the owner's word?

I thought I read on here that a dealer can look it up using your VIN number.

Mike - if a non-Yamaha repair shop replaced the stator (or any part) I don't think it'll show up on a VIN check will it?

That is good to know. I will ask the seller for the vin number so I can check it.
Never realized that this was a problem with that year. We had 06 vector gts and did not replace them until 2010 with new vector ltxs which we love.

2005-2007 engines could experience failure, and an update was made available. Not sure how many failures were actuallly documented.
