Went up to Jackman Maine over the weekend and had a blast with the brand new 07 FX. I did notice in the morning the reverse would not engage. I tried pulling the sled back and forward with no luck. It did however work later when the sled was warmed up. Anybody else experience any problems with the reverse? Oh yea, looks like I’ll be closing off the tunnel after I get done chipping off the 20 lbs of ice I brought home from Maine.

what do you mean by not working? did you hit the button and nothing happen at all no back-up beeper or any kind of engagement. if so then this has happened to mine since it was new. the throttle position sensor is not set right and it tells the computer that there is throttle when there isnt any and therefore will not actuate the reverse.

I hit the button and nothing, no beeping noise and no reverse light, it seemed to be locked in forward. I figured it may have just been frozen form sitting outside in the weather, but i wasnt sure. Other times I put the sled in reverse, the light and beeping starts and it doesnt move and the engine will rev like it is in a nuetral. I have to get off the sled and pull it backwards and the reverse will then work.

You said it worked later when the sled warmed up..
Well when the sled is cold it idles higher, once it warms the idle slows.
Reverse will not engage above a certain RPM
As for having to rock the sled, it is a gear that has to engage
so sometimes its just not lined up right and needs a little budge.

I have also heard/read that the idle must be set at I believe 1700RPM (+/- 100RPM) for reverse to engage properly. I have had similar issues where I had to rock the machine to get it to engage. Check the manual, I beleive I read it there, if not, it was on this website somewhere. If I come across it, I will post a link. Let the sled warm up for 10-15 mins then check your idle speed.

Try turning the engine off with the key and re-start the engine and then push the forward or reverse button again. Works for mine...
