Anybody having any problems with the reverse kit that the dealer puts on?I just bought a vector mountain 07 and I wanted reverse. The dealer says they have probs with breakage. So Im not sure if I should add or not.

My 03 rx1 was a dealer installed reverse. works perfect 3500 miles. I had it apart this summer for new track, looks new inside

Are you sure he said "breakage" and not "linkage"? If your dealer's mechanic is incompetent, then they could have linkage adjustment problems with all their models. "Breakage" isn't even a word.

I've never heard of an RX/RS reverse failure that wasn't actually just incorrect adjustment. The "kits" are identical to factory installed reverse.

breakage (brakij) n 1 the act of breaking or state of being broken. 2 things broken. 3 an allowance for articles broken. ;)!

I haven't personally seen the guts of a newer RS/RX reverse kit, but I have done reverse kit installs on 3 SX sleds, 1 Polaris, 1 Ski-Doo, and 1 AC. Let me tell you, there is NO comparison of the quality of the parts. The Yammi reverse parts are top-notch in both quality and design, and my two SX sleds both have over 10,000 miles without any reverse gear or linkage problems yet. I can't say the same about the other brands, including my wifes XC800 that wanted to be in both fwd and rev at the same time after about 2 years. By the time she complained to me she had already ate holes in two belts. One person in my group had a kit installed by the dealer, and it wouldn't even move off the trailer when we got it home. Upon investigation if I remember correctly, the fork was not in the right spot, a thrust washer was missing, the chain was loose, and some leaves that were in the belly pan ended-up inside the chaincase when the cover was put on. Also, the notch in the hood was done with a power saw, and it was all hacked-up. The dealer had a kid mechanic do the install, but still charged the $70 per hour.

It's not that the kits are that hard to install, but you do have to pay attention to where all the parts go, and adjusting the linkage properly is best when the directions are used as a guide, but "feel" of where the gears/fork are in relationship to the backlash in the linkgage gives the best result.
