Hey guys have my 03 RX1 and found some faults with it and have a bunch or parts to make it a much better sled. However my goal was to get into one for $5k and essentially have a apex with carbs on steroids (Nitrous  )
but have already gone over that so now I'm torn. Here is what my plans are:

03 RX1 LE 2900 miles:
Apex GT front suspension (all PC black)
GYTR clicker shocks
Simmons skis
Polaris Edge rear skid possibly a 128-136 (its 121 right now)
Billet rear wheels
polished tunnel
Apex seat

This set up should make a sled anyone would love to drive and it would look real nice and clean which is want I want. Lots of years left in it and I probably wouldn't mess with it for 3-4 years before I got around 7-9k miles on it then part it out or sell.

Or I could look into buying a Apex with 3-5K miles which is the same price as what I will have into mine and in 2-3 years with it gets to the 7-9K miles send it on its way.

What do you guys think? :ORC

If you like to tinker and find parts reasonably priced, I say mod it..... I'm in the same situation...I'm drooling over the new models, but sled are like computers, you're always playing catch up if you want to have the 'latest & greates'.... and you have to pay to play, big time!

On the other hand, you could just upgrade and be done..... :o| decision, decisions....

If you're like me your sled is paid for and I went with the mod route. I took my 05 back to my dealer (Woody's, Thopsham Me. some of you might even know Woody from racing) and had him do the "power up" kit he offers. Huge difference in the sled's performance. The kit included K&N filters, overdrive primary with different weights and springs. Secondary has windage plates different helix and spring. Red Springs in the carbs and 10's for spark plugs. He also dropped a tooth on the top sprocket and advanced the cam. Night and day difference for a reasonable price. It's as fast or maybe a tiny bit faster than stock Apex's in my experience. The mod route is fun you get to do a little at a time and the way you want it. All without the payment of a new sled!!! I would suggest a Nytro seat for that sled I put one on and absolutely love it! Mod it out

You could always buy my turbo sled:)

I was there last year! I ended up butting about $1500 bucks into my 03 rx. I found a 06 mono skid, new track, 4" of foam in the seat, straight rate springs and a sway bar. All I can say is WOW! I feel like I got a new sled! So if you like to do the work your self it is a fun summer project!

MOD IT! I was thinking of trading in my 07, but why really? It's payed for and I like it. I also have many plans for my Attak. What is kool, IMO, about moding is that you will have a personalized sled. Not just a normal sled that most others have. Unique, is the word I'm looking for here.

If you're really looking to Apexisize your sled, I think you should add Wildchild's steering post relocation kit to your list (puts you into the same rider forward position as an Apex).
I've done the skid and skis - next is the seat and post. I'm not convinced that replacing the front suspension is worth it.
