I've got the service manual and it state 0w 30. But then there is a caution about not using oil with an API Service Grade of CD or higher. Mobile and Amsoil are both rated CF. I assume CF is higher. Does this mean I'm stuck with using Yamalube? The caution is in regards to starter clutch slippage.

Thanks,
Jeff

I just changed mine this weekend used the new Yamalube 0w40 full synthetic. It is a Pain to change the filter. I installed a k&n filter which has a nut on the top to use a 17mm wrench to tighten/loosen makes it a lot easier since there is no frickin way you can get a regular filter wrench in there.

oil

This could be an interesting thread ,I called the yamaha dealer here in NY they stated 0w30 amsoil is fine .

I run the Amsoil now but when I was in warrantee I stuck to the Yamalube. That way no questions.Never need any warrantee for motor though.

Amsoil and no problems yet 0W40. Ran this under warranty and after warranty.

Same here Amsoil 0w40 I run this in all my stuff.Sled,Quads and bikes.Winter and summer.Never had any issue.

Glad to here that Amsoil 0-40 is good. I just bought 7 quarts of it (and 1 bottle of 2-smoke oil) at an auction for $35 (includes tax and buyers premium). I have to drive over and get it, but I figure I'll have about fifty bucks invested.
